Chapter Five
"Why every song about love
Or drinking too much
Yea maybe that's because
everybody lonely
And on your radio
there's another song goes
Babe I'll never let you go"

"The Milano"
Beth laid on the table in the gally of the Milano as the spacecraft soared lazily through open space. Rocket had lined her arm up next to her.
After an angry exchange of words between the badger and raccoon he had all but agreed to help Beth reattach her appendage.
Rocket had taken apart her arm before Beth could object. He clipped and rerouted wires and reinforced parts he had deemed as shoddy craftsmanship to the arm.
"Whoa! Why are you two playing Operation on the table" Peter questioned the pair.
Rocket ignored the human. His attention was still on Beth, "You know, this is gonna hurt?"
Beth nodded.
"Why?" Peter question.
Rocket sighed. The human wasn't leaving.
"It's attached to her nerve endings" he explained to Peter. Rocket touched an exposed wire in Beth's arm socket.
A jolt of pain raced through Beth like she had been hit in the arm. She gritted her teeth.
"Gives her more or less the sensation of having an actual arm"
Rocket absentmindedly touched another of Beth's wires. This one caused goose flesh to prick her flesh. Her skin grew hot under her furs as she felt her breath catch.
"Seriously? That's disgusting" Peter goffed eyeing the pair.
Rocket laughed "In her or your dreams."
"I'm not some kind of furry you weirdo!"
It was Beth's turn to speak, "Oh kink shaming, that's rich coming from the man, 'who has lain with an A'askavariin'" Beth did her best impression of Drax.
Rocket and Beth cackled as Peter's face turned red.
"Whatever, but so help me if I come back and you two are boning on the table," Peter threatened before making his way back to the cockpit.
"In all seriousness, are you ready HB?"
Beth let out a breath. How many bad nicknames could she be given in 24 hours?
She reluctantly nodded, "Yea."
Rocket nodded back placing one hand on the arm and the other on Beth's shoulder.
"On the count of three," he told her.
"3,2,-"
Rocket forced Beth's arm back into place. The badger cried out as her body tensed and convulsed. Beth fell from the table onto the floor.
