Acceptance; So Contagious"Benatar; Auxiliary Pod 1"
Beth Carpenter sat in the pilot's seat of the small pod. The badger had a death grip on the stirring controls in front of her. Her tongue hung to the side of her mouth as she concentrated.
Rocket sighed.
He had promised his-
The pair hadn't worked out the minutia of their relationship.
He really liked her and he liked kissing her.
"You really don't have to grip the controls that tight Sweets," the raccoon groaned.
Why had he let her talk him into this?
She stared straight ahead.
"I'm not gripping them that hard," Beth protested.
Rocket frowned before reaching one hand around behind her and placing his other hand on her right. He placed his hands on top of hers and loosened her grip.
"-Ok, now we're just gonna ease the controls forward," he explained.
The pod slowly moved forward as he gently moved her hands.
"-Wait, wait! What if we hit something?" Beth frowned.
He looked left and right before chuckling, "We're in the middle of freakin' space, the nearest anything is 27 clicks away."
Beth side-eyed Rocket, "Yea, ok. But-"
Rocket cut her off mid-sentence "You're the one who wanted to learn."
"No, no you're right, I'm just really nervous," she confessed.
He gave her a cheeky smile.
"Don't be, you have the greatest pilot in the universe as a teacher."
Beth giggled, "And most modest apparently."
Rocket ignored her comment.
"So, just ease it forward," he instructed Beth
Her touch did not have the same finesse as Rocket's. The ship jolted forward before stopping abruptly.
She half expected him to shout or call her something like, 'A big dumb idiot'.
The raccoon made no such remark.
"-So just a touch lighter than that," he coached.
After another two failed attempts Beth managed to fly the pod forward without giving either of them whiplash.
Beth grinned, "I'm really doing it!"
"Not bad," Rocket praised her.
He let go of her hands.
The raccoon smiled at the triumphant look on Beth's face as she continued to fly the pod forward.
Within the next couple hours, Beth could fly the small pod forward, backward, up, and down.
