Chapter-Thirty

"How many times can I break 'til I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break, let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time, I'm shattered
I always turn the car around"
O.A.R; Shattered

"Nidavellir"

The pod drifted into the dark rings of Nidavellir. There was no movement. The massive metal rig appeared deserted. A large piece of moon-sized ore sat at the center.

There was an emptiness the three onboard the pod could not shake.

"Something's wrong, the star has gone out," Thor quietly commented pointing to the center ore.

Rocket continued to fly the pod onward.

"And the rings are frozen," he added, noting the metal rig's stillness.

The inner rings of Nidavellir were just as desolate and dark.

Again there were no signs of life.

The raccoon brought the pod down gently in a work area that just like the rest of Nidavellir appeared abandoned.

"Let's hope these dwarves are better at forging than they are cleaning," Rocket raised a brow at the cobwebs and broken bits.

The three exited the pod and wondered among the debris.

Groot's attention was once again on his handheld game that beeped on.

"-Maybe they realized they lived in a junk pile in the middle of space." Rocket added with crossed arms.

Thor shook his head only half listening to Rocket's commentary.

"This forge hasn't gone dark in centuries"

Rocket surveyed the work area.

It was nothing like the Nidavellir of legends.

He stopped abruptly in front of one large mold. His eyes widened.

"You said Thanos had a gauntlet, right?" The raccoon asked Thor.

Thor turned to Rocket, "Yes, Why?"

Rocket pointed up to the mold.

"It look anything like that?"

A look of shock appeared on Thor's face. The mold the raccoon was referring to did in fact look like the gauntlet Thanos wore.

But that would mean-

"I am Groot," Groot looked up from his game saying the thing the others were thinking, the dwarves had made Thanos' gauntlet.

"Get back to the pod!" Thor told the others.

As the god turned to leave he felt the fist of a large being collide with his face. The blow caused Thor to fly backward into a stack of crates nearby.

With a swift kick from the large being Rocket and Groot were flung to the floor.

Their attacker made his way back to Thor. He made to scoop up the god but paused at Thor's pleas.

"Eitri wait! Stop!" Thor command.

The large dwarf looked down at Thor with realization.

He looked unkempt with shaggy brown hair and a scraggly bread.

"Thor?" Eitri questioned.

The god nodded, "What happened here?"

The large being hung his head, anger tinged his tone, "You were supposed to protect us! Asgard was supposed to protect us!"
