After Agathe and I exchange I love you, the next day, we decided we should pay Katharina a visit to France.
We flew from Lakesbrough to France, Paris. I told Kath I was just visiting and surprised her with Agathe. I can see the happiness in Katharina's eyes when she saw Agathe by my side.
"Aggie? AGGIE!"
Katharina ran towards Agathe and held her tight. I understand why both of them were crying. Since we graduated, they didn't have a connection. Mind you, it was way back in 1997. For you, it might sound like just another four years, but for people who love each other, it was an eternity.
"I missed you, so much Kath," Agathe said while sobbing.
"Oh, no, don't cry or else I'm going to cry!"
"Kitty I can't help it!"
Both of them bawled their eyes out, Katharina then reached to hug me. When we asked where's her vehicle, she called someone to fetch us there.
The man was tall and ripped. The guy then introduces himself. Turns out his name is Mathis. Katharina's husband.
"Husband!?" Agathe and I said in unison.
"Since when?" I asked. "After two years I went here. Don't be mad, we wanted the wedding to be just the two of us." Katharina said.
Agathe and I just laughed about it since it wasn't our decision to make who to invite. Besides, if Kath did invite all her friends to her private wedding, we still wouldn't be able to come. It's far and we had our head start to real life. Mathis was with his butler and we got into the limo.
"Kitty, you went all out. You didn't have to."
"Oh, shut it, Aggie, I want the best for my best friend, so please, let me."
They showed us all the tourist spots. Even if Agathe and I went there separately for family vacations. Kath lived in a townhouse and still is.
"Home sweet home, Agathe, Brahms, your room is upstairs down to the left the one with the gray door. I'm going to let you know when it's dinner time, but right now, you two should get some rest."
And we did. The room that Katharina gave us was immaculate and huge. When I say huge. It's huge. It has a big window that shows you the city of Paris. Agathe unpacked our clothes and stuff while I looked at the beautiful scenery.
I felt Aggie hug me from the back and whispered in my ear, I love you to the moon and back. Agathe loves to tell everyone she loved that she loves them. And I loved that about her.
"I love you too..." I said.
Agathe then, lay down to bed to take a nap. Just seconds later she was sleeping like a baby. I saw her beautiful face reflecting the gleam from outside and how peaceful she is while sleeping. I played with her hair, and even though I knew that my fingers would be tangled by her hair because of how curly it is, I still did it. I was laying down at that point. I was tired just like Agathe so, I also drifted off to sleep.
Maybe an hour or so, Agathe gently pressed her lips against my cheeks. I looked up and saw her wearing a praline rose cardigan and jeans with her white shoes, she tied her hair into braids but some of it was falling to her beautiful visage.
"It's dinner, come on, let's get you ready."
I got dressed and then Agathe and I went down and found Katharina and Mathis set up the table like there was a feast.
"Mrs. Amault really went all out, huh?" I said humorously, "You know what, Mathis, Katharina didn't even know how to lift a spoon back in the day... And now she's cooking!"
Katharina looked at me laughing, "Come on now, you two, take a seat."
The four of us ate and talked like it was our last conversation. Katharina looked at Agathe dearly several times when Aggie wasn't looking. Maybe she misses her so much.
Mathis' took a course which was culinary. He was a chef at the finest restaurant in Paris. No wonder, Katharina knew how to cook when we got there. After dinner, Kath and Agathe went to do the dishes while Mathis and I went out to the porch for some beer.
Half an hour later I finished mine so I went to the kitchen to get two more. Then, I heard Katharina and Agathe talking.
"... Yeah," Agathe laughed. "You know, I'm happy to see you, again."
"Me too, Aggie. Me too. How's your relationship with Brahms?"
"It's fine, it was like living in a fairy tale. Don't you think it's weird? You know because we shared Brahms?"
"Oh, no, Aggie," Katharina then laughed hard. "Why are asking that?"
"Kitty, you know it's true. You and Brahms were together for what? Four years?"
"Yes, four years. But it's over now. Ever since the day he met you, I saw that you're the love of his life. I just-"
There was silence.
"I'm sorry," I heard Katharina crying, "it should've been you instead of me. I was selfish. I took Brahms away from you. I'm sorry."
"Oh, Katharina, no... It's okay. There's nothing to be sorry for. It's perfect timing. And it's fine... He told me everything."
I peeked into the kitchen and saw Kath and Agathe hugging each other. I decided not to ruin the moment for the two of them, so I went back outside.
Mathis looked at me confused about where was the drink.
"Kath and Agathe, they were in the middle of something, it's the best for them if I didn't get the drink."
He immediately understood what I meant by that. Agathe and I went out to walk in the city of Paris after she and Katharine talked. It was gorgeous. Perfect, I dare say.
Agathe and I held hands while we walked down the street.
"You think that we'd still be together in ten years?"
"Yes."
"What makes you think that?"
"Why, you're leaving me again?"
"No," said Agathe, "I would never do that again. I was just curious. Because I was thinking that you would run out of love for me."
"Well, just so you know, Miss Evans, ten, twenty, ninety, or say an eternity, I would never, ever, ran out of love for you."
"You promise?"
"I promise. That even in the days you think you're not beautiful, when you think hope isn't there, I promise that I would stick around. And I would stick around so much that you would be disgusted by my face every time you lay your eyes on me."
Agathe laughed and gave me a peck on the cheeks and she said that she would do the same to me too. I hope Aggie knows that I'm still doing that.
The next night, the four of us went to a pub to watch Katharina play with her band. Mathis, Agathe, and I watched Katharina play her drums as she twist the drumsticks to her hands like magic.
Two days later, we told Katharina our goodbyes because we needed to go home because Dad needs me too. Don't be sad. I mean it IS sad, but goodbyes are simply to see you later, right?
Agathe and Katharina are both sobbing by the time we reached the airport. Mathis was sobbing too. I gave Katharina a tight hug and swiftly turned so we can fly back to Lakesbrough.
