"It's afternoon already?"
I now looked outside the carriage...
The sun is at its highest, so I presume that it is super hot.
The wedding was held in the morning and inside the church so I didn't really feel the hotness while inside the church.
Remembering what happened earlier, the wedding was held in private and it wasn't THAT formal. The taking of oath and the signing of wedding certificates and then done.
I didn't bother to complain since I also don't want to be seen by other people. I do not wish for any attention, it makes me uncomfortable...
Thinking about uncomfortable, I unconsciously look at HIM, my husband.
Quietly, he sat there looking into some papers that was already inside the carriage before we even get on.
He didn't bother to look at me after the ceremony, and I too didn't.
I mean... We are practically strangers.
If only my father didn't pursue to this marriage...
"Tomorrow."
"Hmm?" I was stunt upon hearing his cold voice.
It was serious and formal?
He paused for a moment, just staring at me. It made me confused but he stopped and fake coughed as I instantly looked away.
"I will be heading to the North..."
"You can stay in the capital if you wish, I will call the mansion's butler and headmistress to come and assist you."
Right...
What do I even expect?
"I will take my leave tonight, so you might not see me in the morning." he shamelessly continued.
"But-"
"The North is not a pleasant place for a Lady like you to stay. So I suggest you stay here in the capital or the ancestral house in the west."
I wasn't able to finish my words when he interrupted. He was still looking at the papers he was reading as if it was the one he is talking to.
But he soon stopped when he didn't hear me respond.
"You do not need to come."
"Your father might kill me..." he sarcastically added.
I clenched my fist and looked away, I knew that he hated my father form every last hair and tip of his nails.
"Then... when will I see you again?" I asked slowly and with a low voice.
"Three years."
...
It didn't surprise me anymore, I already expected this the moment I accepted the responsibility of marrying this Duke.
But somehow his answer made my heart clench in an unknown matter. The rush of a faint excitement have vanished because I still have expected him to be in the mansion for at least a day.
Or maybe it's just my ego as his wife?
We just got married and he already wants to go and live separately...
"Is there something you would want to tell me?"
Don't leave-
"I don't want... t-to stay in the capital" I said.
