Why Am I Saving Prince Charming? Part 19
Chris’s POV:
It is official…
Being bruised sucks!
A whole week and a half has gone by and I still am bruised from Miah’s disagreement (air quotes) with me, both physically and emotionally. Miah has put me permanently on the couch until every bruise completely fades. This means that though I no longer have to deal with the sheet thief (Miah) I end up feeling lonely in the middle of the night when everything becomes quiet.
….Not to mention, that couch puts me through the ringer each night I sleep on it.
Miah has also decided to wait until I am better (more air quotes… sigh) before we drive back to my home. This is definitely to her dad’s delight, which I am starting to suspect he had something to do with this sudden decision. (irritated frown)
To top that all off, I feel like I am only one step away from being a toddler in Miah’s eyes…
Miah’s POV:
Sighing at the prospect of having to go downstairs, I quickly pulled my hair into a messy bun. While I went into Charlie’s room to see how he fared in getting ready for the day and contemplated the idea of leaving Chris stranded for the day.
I was feeling trapped.
Chris had insisted that he didn’t need to go to the hospital or see a doctor of any kind, but I would have felt better if he had indulged me.
The swelling had gone down a couple of days ago but there was still a fairly large bruise covering a good portion of his stomach and side. Though, his temperament has only gotten worse.
Charlie and I raced downstairs then went into the kitchen where dad was making scrambled eggs and toast.
“What jelly do you want on your toast?” I asked while already knowing the answer
“blueberry!” Charlie exclaimed
I dished him up a plate of eggs and put his toast on the side. I then went into the living room where SOMEONE couldn’t seem to be able to function without a mass amount of assistance, I sighed.
I took Chris’ hand and helped pull him out of the couch, then led him to my room so that he could get dressed. He still was having trouble getting all the way up the stairs without hurting himself.
“If you tell me what clothes that you want, I can put them on the bed so that you don’t have to bend down for them.” I offered
“I can dress myself without you holding my hand” Chris replied in irritation
“Alright then, I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.” I said in what I hoped was a calm voice
“Don’t get all offended! I just don’t want you picking out my clothes like a two year old!” he snapped
I put my hands up in surrender and slowly walked out of the room.
After breakfast, Charlie and I went over what we were going to be doing for the day, which consisted of coloring, playing with his toys while I finished packing, snack, nap time, play in the yard, lunch, go out for a walk, dinner, then relaxing before bedtime. My favorite parts of this plan were the napping and relaxing, Charlie’s was the playing in the yard.
Chris’s Pov:
Miah had just left, without a backward glance if I might add, to go for a walk with Charlie.
As soon as she left I got up from the kitchen stool where Miah had left me some toast for breakfast and headed for the stairs, where I could start working out the kinks from sleeping on the couch.
