It had been two weeks since the abortion. Things were normal again. JJ was over at Kies house almost everyday again, and sometimes, he was still allowed to spend the night with her on the couch. Her room, however, was still off limits.
One afternoon, JJ and John b were at a gas station getting beer for that night.
"So JJ" John b teased "d'you ever figure your uhh, y'a know... situation"
JJ laughed
"As a matter of fact yes I did" he smirked "very much so"
"Gross" John b said, pushing his shoulder
"You asked" JJ laughed as they turned the corner on to the freezer isle.
At the end of isle, right where they needed to be, stood luke, grabbing a 12 pack of beer.
JJ hesitantly looked back at John b and stopped walking. It was too late though because Luke already saw him.
"We'll I'll be damned, There he is" Luke said, clearly a little tipsy already "man of the hour, son, Where the hell have you been"
"When have you ever cared about where I was" JJ scoffed as Luke walked up to him
"Well I've been callin y'a for weeks now." Luke said, holding his arms out "you haven't been home in more than two months"
"What do you want, dad." JJ said, closing his eyes briefly
"I want you to come home. You're 16 years old and CLEARLY you ain't responsible enough to be by yourself" Luke said
"What are you talking about" JJ asked
"Thanks for telling you were having a kid by the way" Luke said passive aggressively "that was real good of you son."
JJs stomach flipped and his anxiety started building
"..How did you find out about that?" JJ said, his voice nervous
"My son got some girl knocked up, n you think I wouldn't find out" Luke said "how's that going for you, dad." He teased and lightly pushed his shoulder
"Who told you?" JJ asked, stepping back "did Mike tell you?!"
"Oooohhh" Luke laughed and looked at John b "look at that, they're on a first name bases isnt that fancy"
John b just looked down and pretended to scratch his neck. Ignoring him.
"Did he tell you, yes or no?" JJ asked, frustrated that he wasn't answering "there were only a few people who even knew about that dad. Who told you?!"
"So, You keepin it or what?" Luke laughed
"Dad, she already got an abortion" JJ said, annoyed
"Ha, she didn't wanna get stuck with you, that's what it was. " Luke laughed. "Ay, she a smarter woman than your momma"
JJ nodded with a fake smiled as he took the hurtful words
"Annndd we're leaving, John b, let's go" JJ turned a started walking away.
"God forbid she get stuck with a maybank kid" luke laughed again as they walked off "ay you're still my kid JJ you better get your ass back home!" He shouted as they left the building.
They got in the car and JJ froze for a minute before slowly putting the Keys up to the ignition.
"You okay?" John b asked, looking over at him
"Yeah" JJ said as he cranked the car "we gotta make a quick stop first"
They drove to kiaras house and both got out and went inside.
They went to the kitchen where Mike was standing
"JJ" Mike said delighted, stretching each syllable. "And...JJs friend? ..Why is he in my house?" Mike jokingly pointed
"Heyy, Mr carrera" John b waved awkwardly
"Mike, did you tell my dad that Kiara got pregnant?" JJ asked, getting straight to the point
"What do you mean?" Mike asked, confused
"Did you tell him?" JJ asked again
"Well.. yea.. I ran into him at the store the other day, it came up." Mike admitted "but, I assumed you had already told him?"
"No. I didn't already tell him" JJ sighed
Just then Kie came down stairs
"What are yall doing here?" She asked once she got into the kitchen
"Did you know that he told my dad you got pregnant?" JJ asked Kie
"You told his dad?!?" Kie asked, looking over at Mike
"I thought he knew" Mike raised his arms as he tried to defend himself
"Mike, I don't talk to my dad." JJ explained "ever wonder why I'm here all the time?... I don't go home. I'm either here, or I'm at John bs"
"This is true" john b quietly added from the back.
"How was I supposed to know that" Mike asked
"How did it even come up in conversation?" JJ asked
"Well.. um.." Mike said, getting nervous "we'll talk about that later. But look, I'm sorry I told your dad JJ I really did think he knew already"
"It's fine, just-" JJ said "people are probably gonna find out now. I'm sure he couldn't wait to tell all his buddies that his idiot son got his girlfriend knocked up"
"You think he told people?" Kie asked
"I'm sure he's told some people." JJ said, even thought he didn't want her to be worried.
"Awsome" Kie sarcastically smiled
"It's fine, I'm gonna talk to him" JJ said, reassuring her
"Okay but call him or something" Kie said, worried "don't go home by yourself"
JJ nodded
"JJ, do you really not go home?" Mike asked, pinching his eyebrows
"Hell no" JJ shook his head
"Where do you sleep?" He asked, concerned
"Here, or John bs" JJ said again
"Where's all your stuff?" He asked
"At my house" JJ shrugged "but a lot of its at the chateau"
"Mm" Mike thought, feeling terrible for him
"Well, not to be this guy but the be- the.... beans.. are getting hot in the van JJ, we gotta go" John b said, and tried to act casual after slipping up.
JJ looked back at him and gave him a look, with his eyes wide.
JJ awkwardly laughed
"Yeah" he smiled and looked over at Kie "you comin tonight?"
"Am I?" She asked, looking at her dad
"I guess" he sighed
"Yay" she smiled and went with the boys
"Wouldn't want your.. beans.. to get hot" Mike teased
"Aha, yeah.. because we want cold. Beans." JJ scowled, jokingly hitting the back of John bs head as they walked out the door. He already knew that Mike knew so there was no need in actually hiding it
Mike already knew that they drank at the chateau. It was obvious to him but he allowed it. He did the same thing as a teenager.
