Wednesday knew that at some point, she would have to come out. There was no denying. Xavier's 3 day trip had turned into a week long trip, making Wednesday even MORE miserable at the mention of his name.
It was his first day at the art show. He only had the original 3 days. He simply chose to stay longer.
Wednesday had always been a curious person.
So of course, naturally, she felt curious to know what exactly Xavier had been doing for the past 4 years.
Her curiosity was creeping up on her. Curiosity would NOT kill this cat.
..............
On his second day in town, Enid knocked on Wednesday bedroom door.
"Wednesday!"
"Enid."
"Look what I got!"
She slid two slips of paper into Wednesday's pale hand. They where the shape and size of a bookmark, with numbers printed on them.
"Northern New York Official Art Show. June 13, 7 am-12 am" Wednesday read out loud.
Enid squealed. "It'll be good for you, I promise! It'll give you the closure that you two desperately need."
"We don't need 'Closure' Enid, I'm not going. Bring Ajax or something."
"Ajax already has a ticket."
"Bring that weird girl from your work."
"I'm not bring Annalisa. She doesn't understand art like us."
"You don't understand art."
"So?"
Wednesday shook her head, shoving the tickets back into Enid's chest. "It's not happening, let it go."
"But you two are made for each other!" Wednesday was pushing the blonde out of her room. "You guys are like magnets, puzzle pieces, peanut butter and jelly, flames and leaves, salt and pepper, ketchup and mustard, cupcakes an-"
Wednesday slammed the door in Enid's face, flicking the lock and walking back to her bed.
...............
Wednesday DID end up going to Xavier's art show. Only because Enid threatened to remove her true crime podcasts if she didn't. The drive there, although short, was torture.
Ajax sat in the front seat, laughing at something Enid had said. It wasn't even that funny.
"Wednesday, how are you doing back there?" Enid questioned. Wednesday was sitting in the back seat alone, due to Ajax driving and Enid's very important role as passenger princess.
"Terrible. And not in a good way."
"It'll be fine."
"Fuck off."
Enid scoffed at Wednesday's sour mood. She didn't know what she expected though.
...............
"Tickets please."
Enid handed over the tickets, as the man punched holes into each one. This seemed to be a big event, if the guards by the entry were anything to go by.
The walked in, splashes of color meeting their eyes. Enid was delighted. Wednesday was not.
The abstract dotted the walls, like small ants crawling towards a main goal. Clay sculptures of people and objects sat placed on white, dustless stands. The depressing art seemed to be a reoccurring subject, much to Wednesday's enjoyment. Acrylic skulls and oil pastel flowers glittered the canvas'. It truly was a beautiful sight.
