In which Wednesday actually uses her brain and realizes Tyler's the hyde before it's to late

yas bitches it's been a week since the last update! I suck at keeping up with shit.

7th grade be kicking ass tho ngl

............................

Tyler was the hyde. It never clicked in Wednesday's head that the overly nice, sweet barista could cause as much harm as this monster had. But she had all the evidence in the palms of her hands.

Literally.

She held the files belonging to Tyler's mother. Hyde, in big bold red text stared up at her. This was all the evidence she needed.

She had to tell Xavier.

She and Xavier had been working together on this case practically from the beginning. He helped her finish tasks she couldn't complete on her own.

He was like her partner in crime, without the crime part. Because technically they weren't doing anything against the rules...other then trespassing and leaving the school when they weren't supposed to.

Wednesday gripped the files tightly in her small fist. She quickly rushed out of her room, scurrying down the many hallways to reach Xavier's door. She panted and raised her fist, knocking it against the wood.

She heard him get up. He opened the door and she could see his eyes light up. Yes, she was aware of his crush on her. But did that affect her? No. She had a case to work on, and had no interest in relationships.

"Wednesday!" He exclaimed happily, pulling the door open wider, revealing his room and his body. He wasn't wearing a shirt.

Which, in all honesty, was fair, because it was currently nighttime and they should both be asleep. She still felt her cheeks redden at the sight.

"X-Xavier." She nodded, mouth set in a straight line. She was uncomfortable, unsure if she should walk in, wait for an invite, or explain the entire situation in the hallway. She wasn't used to caring about what other people thought. So why was she worrying now?

"Come in!" He said softly, recognizing the furious twitching of her fingers, the slight furrow in her brows, the soft tinge of pink on her normally paper white cheeks. All easy signs she was uncomfortable. He'd gotten used to reading her muted signals.

She entered without a word, walking over to his bed and tossing the files onto his bed, spreading them out, revealing newspaper articles, photos and many other things that all pointed to Tyler's mother.

"I believe Tyler to be the hyde." She told him as he walked over and sat on his bed. She remained standing. He shuffled through the papers.

He bit his bottom lip and furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah, no, I see what you're saying but...are you even sure she passed her condition onto Tyler?"

She rolled her eyes. "The only way to make sure of that is to see him transform. I can assure you he won't be willing to transform for us."

Xavier gave a dry chuckle. "Yo Tyler, transform into a hyde for a minute for us bro!" She glared at him. "Yeah, you're right, that would never work."

She nodded and gathered the files. "We should begin our attack tomorrow." She said blankly before turning to leave,

"Whoa ma'am. Attack?" He said, grabbing her wrist to stop her. She turned around slowly and glared at him, shaking her wrist to free herself.

"Yes. Attack. Would you like me to clarify the definition of that word, or are you okay?" She hissed, glaring up at him.

"I never agreed to any type of attack."

"You agreed to it when you agreed to be my partner."

"Do you have a contract? Signed paper? Proof?" He said. Wednesday's angry bursts never ceased to amaze him. How could such a small, calm person release such dark, angry energy?

It didn't scare him though, he was to used to it.

"Xavier. Why are you suddenly refusing to help?"

"Because Wednesday. Every single time you do shit like this, you end up getting into trouble. Why would you attack someone when you could go tell Weems and get this over with?"

"I don't require help." She snarled at him, leaning up to be more intimidating.

"Then why are you here then?" He smirked. "If you really didn't need help, then why have you been coming to me with everything you find?"

"I-" She turned pink. "I hadn't really noticed I'd been doing it."

"So...you want my help or not?"

She sighed. This was a hard question. He was, on one hand, quite useful. But he was so annoying and snoopy. But he helped her, and he was tolerable.

"Yes. I want your help."

"No attacking though."

"Fine." She hissed.

...............................

"When I said no attacking shit, I meant at all! Not just with me!"

"Why do you feel the need to protect me so much?!" She cried out, her eyes tearing up. With anger and the pure desire to strangle the boy in front of her. "You don't need to protect me, Xavier!"

"Wednesday. I don't think you understand." He said, voice going softer. "The hyde is so, so dangerous. I can't let you go out and try to take that thing down yourself! If you had gotten hurt, I would blame myself."

"But it wouldn't be your fault."

"Yes it would have. I should have been with you. Always. I shouldn't have trusted that you'd stay away from danger like I said. I should have kept an eye on you and made sure you were safe. I would never forgive myself if you got hurt."

"It's my choice."

"I know. And I'm here to stop you from making that choice." He softly pulled her into a hug.

She didn't resist. She wrapped herself around him and squeezed tightly, burying her face in his coat.

It felt...

...nice.

"Now you go plan on how we tell Weems tomorrow. And no attacking." He said, holding his pinky finger up.

"No attacking." She said with a nod and connected their pinkys.
