Wednesday is insecure.
.............
Wednesday stared at herself in the mirror. She never really felt insecure before, but as she examined her reflection, she started to understand why she'd never had a boyfriend.
Other than the fact she found romance disgusting, of course.
Fuck, her cheeks were to chubby. What was she, five? And how was she supposed to look perfect when she had freckles? They were little imperfections, that dotted her face. Wednesday stepped away from the wall length mirror. She was to short, to skinny, to muscular for her tiny build. She was to pale, to rude, to cold, not a good enough friend. Her voice wasn't smooth, like the other girls, it was almost raspy. Her eyes were to dark. She wasn't pretty, or blonde, or tall like the other girls.
"FUCK!" She cried, slamming her small fist against the wall before sinking to the floor and curling up. "Why? Why the fuck am I like this?!"
She sniffled into her knee's, not wanting to look up and see her own crying reflection in the mirror.
Why, out of everyone in the world, did she have to be the one in this body? Why, out of every hair color, eye color, body shape, did she have to wind up with this? Why did all the other girls get perfect, gorgeous body's and she wound up like this?
What the fuck did she do to deserve this.
She sniffled and stood up, smoothing down her skirt. She really should be getting ready for dinner, not sitting here crying over nonsense.
She walked to the bathroom, getting out a makeup wipe and washing her face, redoing the running mascara before taking a few deep breaths.
"You're being stupid, Wednesday." She told herself as she glared into the mirror. "This is a ridiculous reason to be upset."
But as she looked at her own body staring back at her, she slowly lifted her shirt.
Was she thin enough? Sure, the rest of her body was like sticks, other than her weirdly muscular arms.
"That's an ugly combination, Wednesday." Her reflection hissed at her. "Skinny, muscular but fat all at the same time? No one will ever want you."
Wednesday felt a thin layer of wetness coat her eyes. "I-I'm sorry."
"It's all your fault, idiotic girl. You aren't perfect enough."
"I'm sorry, I promise!"
She curled up right there on the bathroom floor, tears streaming down her face.
Flaw after flaw, Wednesday didn't understand how anyone could live like this.
....................
"Where the hell is she?!" Enid groaned, checking the time on her phone. "She's normally down by now!"
Xavier had an anxious feeling in the pit of his stomach. It wasn't like the small girl to be late. "I can go check on her if you want?"
"No, it's fine, I can go." Enid said with a groan before getting up and reaching for her bag. Xavier stopped her wrist.
"I'll go, I'm done anyways." He wasn't done, but the anxiety he felt was ruining his appetite.
Enid gave him a small nod before settling back down into her seat next to Ajax.
..............
The entire walk to Wednesday's dorm thoughts clouded Xavier's mind. What could have possibly prevented her from coming to dinner?
He knocked softly on the door. "Wednesday? Hey, you in the there?"
"Y-Yeah." He heard her sniffle, before a rustling noise sounded from the room.
He heard the door unlock before it cracked open, Wednesday's head poked out.
Her eyes were cloudy with tears and puffy red. Her braids were messed up slightly, and mascara ran down her face like a waterfall.
"Shit, Nes, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, why aren't you at dinner."
He softly pushed the door open and stepped inside. "Never mind that, why are you crying sweetheart?"
He bent down slightly so she was taller than him, and he placed his hands on her shoulders.
"Don't call me that, we aren't dating." She hissed at him.
He shook it off. "Wednesday, whats got you so upset you couldn't come to dinner?"
She sniffed and wiped at her eyes roughly, shaking her head. "It's not important."
"Yes it is if you couldn't come to dinner." He softly stood up and picked her up, carrying her to her bed before sitting down, holding Wednesday in his lap.
"X-Xavier, am I ugly?" She sniffled, looking up at him eyes wide and tear-covered.
"Of course not!" He said, brows furrowed, "No, you're the prettiest fucking girl I know!"
"Don't lie to me." She hissed at him suddenly.
"I'm not lying, Wednesday." Her said softly, kissing her forehead. "You're gorgeous."
"No I'm not! I'm so ugly! I'm pale, and gross and weird looking-"
He softly pressed a kiss to her mouth before tilting her head up. "Wednesday, everyone thinks that at some point." He softly kissed her again. "That doesn't make it true."
"But-"
He shook his head, bringing a finger up to cover her lips. "No buts, you're beautiful. Now come one, let's go get you washed up, everyone's waiting for you at dinner."
She gently kissed him again, leaning onto him. She pulled away and rested the side of her face on his chest. "Thank you."
He softly kissed her forehead. "Of course."
