As Much As It Hurts To Say Goodbye

I was craving depression, y'all :PPP

What if Wednesday never blocked the arrow? What if it DID hit Xavier?

.......................

Wednesday could feel her pulse everywhere. Anxiety pounded through her, coursing through her veins like a poison. She watched as Crackstone twisted the arrow around to aim at Xavier.

Xavier.

Shit, no!

She watched frozen in shock as the arrow zoomed past her, casting a light breeze due to it's speed.

A sort of PLOW noise sounded as it rammed itself into the artist chest.

"FUCK YOU, YOU UGLY UN-DEAD PIECE OF SHIT!" Wednesday yelled. She could feel tears on her face, streaming down. She couldn't lose Xavier. As much as she was annoyed by him, and suspected him to be a murderous monster, she cared about him.

Bianca started battling Crackstone, giving Wednesday the perfect moment to run back to Xavier

"H-Hi Wednesday." He said, sounding woozy.

"Oh god." She groaned, sniffling.

"N-No Wednesday-y don't c-cry." He said, weakly raising an arm to wipe a tear off her cheek.

"Xavier, can you see me?"

"It's all s-spinning and b-b-blurry?" He said it like a question, his eyes seemed to peer right through her, as though she was made of glass.

"Hey, listen, stay right here, don't close your eyes."

"B-But I'm s-so tired-d"

"Xavier, listen to me. Don't. Close. Your. Eyes."

"Ok, b-boss." He giggled and saluted at her. She could see tears in his eyes.

She got up and ran around, collecting scattered materials, from part of the nurses office that had exploded. She ran back.

Xavier laid there, trying his hardest to keep his eyes open. "H-Hi? W-Wednesday?"

"Xavier, hey. Can you breath?"

"Hardly" He snorted.

"This is going to hurt alright?"

"It already does asshole." He said scrunching up his nose.

He had gone from playful to pissy real fast. So she decided to give him no warning and yanked the arrow out. "FUCK"

She softly kissed his forehead, which seemed to calm him down. She applied slight pressure to the wound as Xavier hissed curse words.

"Xavier, you ok?"

He had turned extra pale, and scrunched up his face. "W-Wednesday I don't think-k-"

"What?"

He looked really weak.

"I don't think it's w-working." His eyes glassed over slightly.

"No Xavier, fuck, no, stay with me."

He shook his head. "G-Go worry about-t the r-rest of t-them. Make sure E-Enid is ok."

"I'm more worried about you!"

"D-Don't be. Go worry about t-the people you c-care ab-bout, I'll be f-fine."

"I care about YOU dumbass!"

He sighed. "I'm talking about Enid, and make sure Eugene is ok too." Fuck that's right, Eugene WAS here.

"Xavier, hey, no." She said, tears streaming in waterfalls as he slowly closed his eyes.

"Wednesday...Left drawer, desk in m-my dorm. B-black box." And with that, he closed his eyes.

Wednesday cried, her hands covered in his blood. Time stopped, everything around her disappeared.

........................

"Wednesday? Wednesday, hey?"

Enid stood over her, as Wednesday sat on her bed. "Yeah?"

"I know it's hard, but you really need to pack. Come on."

"He, he said something before he died."

"Wednesday-"

"No, no, he said 'Left drawer' on his desk, there should be a black box."

She got up and made her way to the door. "Wednesday, you're gonna be really upset if there's nothing there. I suggest you don't go searching for something you might never find."

She ignored Enid and exited the room.

.................

She jammed open Xavier's dorm door. Bursting inside, she ran over to the desk. Opening the farthest drawer to the left, she found a black box. Curious, she slowly sat down on his bed, her eyes not leaving the box in her hands. She slowly lifted the cover only to be met with the shiny screen of a phone.

A note was tucked into the corner. She removed the note and opened it.

Dear Wednesday,

If you're reading this, something has prevented me from giving this to you. I'm sorry if something happened and I am unable to give this to you in person, but welcome to the 21st century Addams! My numbers already in the phone.

And if I died like what happened in one of my dream-visions, then that clearly will be useless.

If  I am dead as I predicted, then I want you to know that I've loved you since we were 10. You're the only person who I care about as deeply as I do. I hope life treats you well, and you find someone to take care of you.

I hope your novel goes well, and you have free reign to take any of the paintings you want from my shed.

All my love,

Xavier Thorpe

P.S. Tell Ajax and Enid goodbye for me.

Wednesday stared down at the note. He knew he was going to die. And yet he still came. She burst into tears, sinking down and covering her face with her hands. Tears fell onto his note and Wednesday scrambled to make sure it stayed as dry as possible.

"Christ Xavier, I'm so, so sorry." She cried into the empty room.

She could have sworn she felt a cold breeze pass through the room as she said this, as though saying "I'm sorry too."

....................

Hahaha I love making myself cry :PPP

Hope you enjoyed your dose of sadness.

Luv ya,

-Em <3
