Xavier sighed, leaning against the headstone of his lover.
"I wish you were here. You didn't deserve to go." He mumbled against the sleeve of his sweater. October 30th. Tomorrow's Halloween.
Wednesday loved Halloween.
"Only day of the year where I can threaten kids without getting in trouble" She would tell him.
And he would laugh.
"Enid says hi." He told the soil, patting the grass of the grave. He remember when the grass was still fresh. New. The soil still soft and squishy.
When she was first gone.
But now it was like all the dirt around it. Hard, cold, lifeless.
It hurt him to think that she was like that too.
He sadly placed the bouquet of flowers down. Black ones, with orange buds and a Halloween themed ribbon binding them by the stems.
"Happy Halloween, my love." He said, kissing his finger tips and placing them on the Headstone.
On her name.
Wednesday Addams.
..........
He sighed, stretching and yawning as he woke, slamming his fist on the alarm clock to shut its loud beeping.
He slid out of bed, grabbing a shirt off his floor and tossing it on. Hadn't he worn this shirt yesterday?
Fuck, why did it matter anyways?
He yawned and exited his messy room, turning and stomping down the cluttered stairs. He flicked on the kitchen light and plugged in the toaster. He grabbed the bread, popping them in and pressing down the small handle.
He unlocked his phone, scrolling through the various "Happy Halloween" messages from his friends and family.
DING!
He grabbed the toast and tossed it on a plate, grabbing some butter and spreading it. He sat down at the small, dirty kitchen table and began eating his not-very-filling breakfast. He tossed his plate in the sink as he finished, before grabbing his keys and leaving his house.
He began walking, where to, he didn't know. He followed his feet, the familiar path reminded him of something. Someone. Who though, he couldn't remember.
He suddenly stopped, looking up from his feet and immediately remembering the location.
Him and Wednesdays spot. He took her here for their first date. First anniversary. Fuck, he was sure he'd taken her virginity here.
He felt tears prick at his eyes as he remember it all. As he remembered her.
Dancing to Wednesday's old people music. Leaning down to kiss her. Holding her tightly in his arms as they watched movie after movie, till the light started showing through the tightly knitted trees and sticks around them.
He remembered they're first date. Painting, if he recalled correctly. He remembered painting her. She painted a knife. He spread paint on her cheek. She stabbed him with the handle of her paintbrush.
Xavier suddenly sobbed, collapsing in on himself as his knees buckled. He sat there, on the grimy, cold forest floor, crying.
He remembered brushing hair out of her eyes. Linking pinkies. Holding hands. Her soft smile. The soft kisses they shared.
"Xavier." He heard a voice hiss.
All too familiar to him.
He nearly leaped back a foot when he looked up and saw the pale, see-through figure of his old lover.
