Gavi's POV

After Mónica picks me up from training, we go to her parent's house to have dinner together. It's become a little tradition to do this before matches but it was usually at my house. It somehow feels more special to be eating here. Especially since my family continues to be a headache.

"You ok, my love?", asks Patricia when she notices Mónica is not really eating.

"What's wrong?", I ask.

"My stomach hurts a bit. I'm not hungry".

"I can make something else for you if you want to", offers her mum.

"No, I...".

Mónica doesn't have time to finish the sentence before she has to run to the bathroom and vomit. Her mum runs after her when she hears the noise, ready to help her. But I just look worriedly at the corridor that leads to the bathroom. When I look back at her dad, he's staring at me.

"What?"

"Are you being careful?"

I almost choke hearing him. How many times is he going to accuse me of getting his daughter pregnant?

"Yes", I tell him, looking away embarrassed.

Patricia saves me from this torture when she comes back to the table.

"She's got her period", she says, making us release the breath we were holding. "It's one of those bad ones. I'll get a hot water bottle ready. Keep eating".

"You get to live another day, golden boy", says Gerard, making me laugh.

I finish what's left on my plate quickly so I'm done when Mónica gets back. She looks so pale and like she's in so much pain.

"Here", tells her Patricia, putting a tablet on the table and giving her a glass of water. "Take that and go to bed. I have your hot water battle almost ready".

"Thanks".

When she takes the tablet, she gets up again to go to her room. But then she seems to remember we are there.

"Sorry. I have to go to bed".

"Don't apologize", I tell her, while her dad tells her to go rest so she can feel better soon.

When Patricia comes back with the bottle, I get up and take it from her hands.

"I'll look after her. Is there something else I can do?"

"Not really. She just needs to wait until the tablet works and the heat will help. She'll probably fall asleep quickly".

"Ok".

I get to her room and see her curled up and half covered by a blanket. I hope this doesn't happen to her often for both of our sakes. I can't see her looking like this knowing I can't do much to help.

"Mami?"

"It's me. I got your hot water bottle".

"You can go home, Pablo. I'll fall asleep soon".

"I don't want to", I say, laying down next to her. Mónica's back is to me, and I put the bottle on her stomach. "I'll stay until you fall asleep, ok?"

She nods and adjusts the bottle so the heat is directed to the area where she's hurting. When I notice she's holding the bottle with one of her hands, I put mine on top of hers. Feeling her relax when I touch her still makes me so giddy.

We stay like that for a while, until I can't resist the urge to give her neck a little kiss.

"Te quiero, mi vida".

A couple of seconds later, I notice there is no answer because she's already fallen asleep. So I give her another kiss and close my eyes, allowing myself to fall asleep too.

Sometime later, her parents come to check on us and see us sleeping. Mónica's mum shakes her head, laughing, while her dad just smiles at us before closing her door.

"I told you he was a good kid".

Mónica's POV

When I wake up, I feel really hot. I can see a hot water bottle next to me but it's no longer hot. The heat comes from the body next to mine. I turn to face Pablo and realise I could just stay like this all day. Staring at his face, while his arms are around me.

But I really need to go to the toilet, so it's wakey wakey time. I decide to wake him up by leaving small kisses all over his face.

"Are you ok?"

"Yes, a lot better. Thank you for looking after me".

"Happy to", he says, burying his head in the crook of my neck, not ready to wake up.

"As much as I love waking up next to you, I need the toilet so...can you release me?", I laugh.

He does so with an unhappy groan and I get up, still feeling pretty weak.

By the time I get back to the room, Pablo is already sitting up in my bed.

"Are you really feeling better? You're still looking very pale".

"Thank you, I love being told how beautiful I am first thing in the morning".

He shakes his head at my teasing and gets up to come closer to me.

I put my arms around his waist and my head on his shoulder, truly enjoying the feeling of this hug.

"I'm fine. Still feeling the cramps a bit, but I'll take another tablet with my breakfast and that will fix it all".

"You don't have to come to the match today".

"I'll be there. No cramps will stop me from seeing my boy score tonight".

"Am I going to score?", he laughs.

"I have a feeling you will".

Back in the kitchen, my dad is already having his breakfast.

"Come here, princess", he tells me, so I can go and give him a hug. "Feeling better? I can work from home if you need me here".

"I'm fine. It was just one of those bad periods I get sometimes".

"Well, you call me if I need to come back, ok?"

I nod and get my breakfast ready with Pablo's help.

"I'm sorry I fell asleep here. I meant to leave when she was sleeping", he tells my dad.

"Don't worry. And thank you for looking after her".

"It's my job", he says proudly, smiling at me and making me blush.

"It was my job first, boy. Don't get too cocky. But I'll allow you to help me when I can't do it myself".

I laugh at their silly banter, already feeling better after having some more medicine. And feeling happy to see my favourite people getting on so well. I can't ask for anything better.
