Gavi's POV
"Well, for moments like this, it's better that they actually are together, Saúl. Be honest. They don't have to lie on camera".
Manu is trying to reason with my manager, and least favourite friend right now, while we get ready for a youtube interview. Mónica is really nervous and their arguing isn't helping.
"Let's go grab something to drink", I tell her, moving her away from these two.
"Why do they have to make everything feel so dramatic?"
When we get to the food and drink table, I have to hug Mónica. We haven't seen each other in two days and I hate that our only time together today will be surrounded by people and cameras. I can see Saúl staring at us but I don't care. When I see Mónica smiling at me, I forget about everything else.
"I missed you. Are you coming to have dinner with my parents tomorrow?"
"Of course. It's my favourite pre-match tradition now".
"My dad has notes for you, apparently".
We stay like that, whispering to each other until someone from production comes to pick us up.
"Ready?"
"I don't have another choice", she says, rolling her eyes. But I can see she's feeling better than when we got here.
Once the camera and microphones are ready, we start. I don't like interviews either. Especially not ones where I have to talk about my personal life.
"Guys, thank you so much for talking to us. We are so honoured you chose our channel".
"I watch your videos all the time. It's great being here", says Mónica.
"I'm freaking out a bit knowing you watch my videos but I'll try to remain professional".
Alicia, the girl who runs this channel, asks us some basic questions first to start the interview.
"So, Pablo, what's your favourite song from Mónica's EP?"
"Escapa".
"Really? That's the only one that isn't about you, right?", she directs the last bit of the question to Mónica.
"Actually, it's the only one about him. I get people will think every love song is about my boyfriend but I don't like to write about myself. Escapa, however, was just something I needed to write for myself and the producers liked it so...".
"I didn't know this story", I say, because I didn't.
"Well, everyone is going to overanalyse those lyrics even more now", says Alicia.
Mónica laughs, shaking her head. She's used to that by now.
"It's pretty simple. I fell in love, I didn't know if he loved me back and feared I would lose him. I was wrong but at that moment I needed to get the feelings out somehow and what better way than using music".
I know we said no PDA but I can't hear that and not hold her hand. She looks up when I do it and smiles at me. We probably look like two idiots in love but that's what we are.
"And what about your favourite goal he's scored, Mónica?"
I laugh and Mónica rolls her eyes.
"She probably thinks they all look the same".
"Both him and my dad bully me because I only just got into football. So rude. And I have a favourite, just so you know".
"Really?"
