Neji

Neji worried about Hinata. His cousin has been acting strangely lately. She tried to make it not so obvious but for someone who grew up with her, she's blatantly obvious.

Hyuuga Hinata finally has a crush.

Having a British grandmother meant that they don't look like the traditional Japanese despite having strong Japanese features. Their grandmother's gene showed in the coloration of their eyes. They have grey eyes as opposed to brown or black. Hinata especially have eyes exactly like their grandmother and she was often teased about it during her younger years. Because of this Hinata didn't like the generic Japanese feature of black hair and black eyes.

So even when she grew up like a graceful lily, she rejected all the boys that confessed to her so far. The foreign friends they made when following Hyuuga Hiashi for oversea business also did not meet her expectation. One guy almost had her but distance and the fact that he has some creepy tendencies drove Hinata away.

But here is a boy that's not only in Japan but also seemed like an all-around nice guy. So far Neji saw Naruto as a bright, happy, and hardworking fellow student. To be honest, he thought Naruto was one of those wishy-washy types of guy who only know how to play. But he was stupefied when despite his playful nature Naruto was actually a serious person. He's very serious, even when planning a prank that somehow managed to superglue all the teacher's markers down and get away with it.

The only reason Neji was sure it was him was because he heard Naruto making the plan while training his joge-buri slash like a madman mumble.

He planned it all like he was planning the heist of the century! He planned from the materials chosen, to the teacher's shift and timing, to the position of entry into ground 0, to the act itself, to the time the act will take and settle, to the position of exit from ground 0, to destroying evidence, to covering his track, and finally to be there when it happens so he can be seen as just another innocent bystander as well as enjoy the mess he just unleashed on poor Iruka-sensei.

In Neji's defense as to why he didn't report Naruto; he thought it was all just an imaginary plan. If he reports the boy now, he might get blamed as an accessory to the blonde's 'crime'. Seriously, the level of planning Naruto put into the prank was terrorist level!

Then the first exam of the semester begin and gone was the prank loving idiot and in his place is this frantic examinee who is studying like he was taking the imperial exam to become an officer at the royal palace from ancient time. Like his life was on the line. Also, for whatever reason, Neji found Naruto in his presence more often than not since the boy joined the Kendo club. The blond was always around after classes and the only time he was not was when Neji's busy with his student council work. It was like he was allergic to the word 'council'.

At the moment, the blond was busy reading up his notebook. Initially Neji thought Naruto would be bad at taking notes but upon a glimpse of his notes, the boy was surprised to see margins being used as well as bullet points. Naruto captured only the most important information, writing down only key points. In fact his notes looked...professional. Like something from Hiashi's business documents where he will propose a new business venture and nailed it at the shareholders meeting.

Even so he kept referring back to the text book to be certain that his notes are correct.

But back with Hinata, it was clear to Neji that the girl is smitten. But she kept quiet about it and only watched from afar. Sometimes Neji wondered if Hinata was born into the wrong era. Not to mention the amount of time Neji caught Naruto at the back of some buildings being confessed to by nervous girls with love letters being offered to him. He always bowed back and apologized, accepting their feelings but informing them that he simply has no interest. Then once Neji saw a boy confessing to the blond right behind their dojo and Naruto looked so done. He just patted the other's shoulder and shook his head, apologizing and informing them that he's straighter than laser.
