Reason I'm Here

Naruto chewed on his ice-cream stick as he sat on a familiar park bench, the same park bench that he came clean with Hinata. He didn't know why his brain has been thinking about the matter and refused to budge. So he thought a place of solace would help organize his messy thoughts.

Kurama sighed, "You are already living a new life. You had died and you had reborn. What's wrong with starting a new book? This is hardly a new chapter, Naruto,"

Naruto looked at his hands, "It's just...awkward. Why can't I start over without remembering anything instead? Looking at their faces only to remember the past..." He then opened his eyes to see the bulk of Kurama lounging on the clear water of his mind, "You still haven't told me why and how you are here when this body is...not made to handle you,"

Kurama grinned, "Naruto...you're broken,"

Naruto frowned, "What's that supposed to mean?"

The giant fox sat up, "Naruto...you died and that alone traumatized people. The body you are in are also traumatized by death. When people died, something in them snapped. They are not the same as they were alive. That is why, it isn't just the living that needs to learn to let go," He leaned forward and nudged his snout towards the Hokage, "Think. Remember how you ended up in this world. Use your chakra to recall,"

Naruto scowled, dread flooding his chest, "I don't like what you're implying, Kurama,"

Kurama chuckled, "Like I said, the living aren't the only ones that need to learn letting go," He pushed Naruto back to reality, "Once you truly recall how you came to be here, you will realize how easy it is to truly live in this new world,"

Naruto opened his eyes to see Hinata watching him with her brows pinching in concern. He blushed by her closeness, "Hi-Hinata! What is it?"

Hinata sighed, "I saw you walking to this bench and sat down. That wasn't strange...if you didn't count the birds building a nest in your hair," Her grey eyes flicked up and Naruto suddenly realized the slight weight on his head. He shook them and debris of broken branches fell from his golden locks. The angry twittering graced his ears and he laughed as he looked up to see a pair of birds, small and round, hovering near his head before exchanging a look with him. The two then flew off in a huff.

Hinata giggled at him as Naruto sighed.

The blond brushed the debris from his head and stood up. He had shot up over the holidays and now he's looming over Hinata. Watching her having to tilt her head to look up at him is just...too cute.

He was no mean short after he reached maturity in the past. He's taller than Kakashi for one and Kakashi was considered tall. He topped at 5' 11" but he has a feeling with his foreign blood in this world, he's going to shoot past that. But Hinata was just...well, she seemed to be slowing down in the height department. Perhaps even staying at the same height as his late wife.

So basically a fun size.

He looked around, "You're late today,"

Hinata nodded, "Iruka-sensei has some things to straighten with me. Not to mention the upcoming field trip this year. Have he told you where we are going?"

Naruto shrugged, "I know we are not rich enough to get an oversea trip,"

Hinata giggled, "Maybe. But we have rich donators this year,"

Naruto blinked and looked down at her, hand twitching to rest on her head, "Oh? Is Hiashi-san donating lots this year?"

Hinata nodded, "I figured it out. That's why I had a discussion with Iruka-sensei about the destination and the sleeping arrangement,"
