Minato gawked in disbelief as Naruto sobbed in front of him, "So she rejected you?"

Naruto shook his head but continued to bawl his eyes out, "She just realized what it meant to be in an age gap relationship,"

Minato put his French fries in his mouth and continued to chew, "So Hinata realized that she's not mature enough for the sort of relationship you would want for her? That's...that's rather mature of her, if I may be honest,"

Naruto sniffled, "I told her I'll wait, 'ttebayo,"

He tore open his second burger wrapper and bit into the unhealthy fast food, tears still dripping down his cheeks from his heartbreak. But at least it wasn't really a rejection but more of a reality check by Hinata. If she's not truly ready, then their relationship would not work out well. Neither party wanted that as they hold the other as very precious to them.

On Minato's part, he was sure that the girl would jump into the relationship. She had been pining for the blond for a long time after all. But the fact that she's mature enough to step back and realized that she's not ready was a little shocking to the man. He had never heard of such a thing. Most mutually attracted people would be eager to start a relationship after all and see where it will take them. If it doesn't work out, they'll take a break from each other before trying again a few years later if at all. He had never heard of a case like Naruto and Hinata but he supposed the world's too big for him to have seen everything.

But even if Naruto agreed to wait, Minato supposed a heartbreak is still a heartbreak. After a few more fries, he asked, "I half expected that you won't take no for an answer,"

Naruto huffed, "I guess I do come off as possessive but...ugh...I am but I'm not a bastard," He grumbled, "Sure growing up people called me demon brat and all that shit but I'm not going to treat her like a possession. Especially not when there's literally nothing between us, 'ttebayo,"

Minato hummed, "Is it, thought?"

"Huh?"

Minato pointed, "It is obvious that both of you wanted the other in your life but both of you still have things that you needed to deal with. You with moving on and her with growing up some more. Yeah, I can see how getting together at this point will end up with both party hurting each other without meaning to," He smiled, "But Naruto, both of you have confessed to the other sincerely. The two of you are just not officially together but there's definitely something between you two,"

Naruto sipped on his Coke, "You think so?"

Minato grinned, "I know so. You two shared something special,"

Naruto hummed before shaking his head and picking on his McFlurry, "I am still not going to treat her like a possession. Hinata's her own girl and that's that. I'll be hella flattered if she still want this wrinkly old ass,"

Minato choked on his ice mocha, "Oi!"

Sometimes Naruto's age really slipped out whenever he had his guard down and Minato didn't know whether to find it worrying or hilarious. But either way, at least the boy no longer sobbing his eyes out. Imagine Minato's surprise when Naruto came to his studio with Shikamaru and burst into a waterfall of tears upon seeing him. Tobirama had grimaced at the sight and chased the duo out to deal with the emotional blond.

Meanwhile, while Naruto was busy settling his complicated emotion from his first Valentine, Hinata sat at home and opening the Valentine gift that Naruto had prepared. She gasped as she finally lay eyes on the masterpiece.

It was a single chocolate cake with a white lily made of white chocolate set atop the cake. It was clear that he put quite the effort in making this. She giggled when she realized that Naruto had accidentally gave her his White Day's gift with the white chocolate lily flower decorating the cake. Feeling a little guilty for being selfish, she hid the cake in her room so Hanabi won't see it, locking the door just to be sure, and honored him by indulging in it.
