Hinata hobbled to class, Naruto right behind her carrying her bag for her. Summer had been crazier than usual and though she could go without the attempted rape, she was glad that something brought Naruto and her closer. If only it was on a happier note but Hinata supposed she should be happy with the cards dealt to her. She thanked Naruto as he helped her settle down at her desk. Naruto grinned at her before leaving to take his place at the back. Hinata would love to sit next to him but Naruto once mentioned that sitting by the window at the back of the classroom put his mind at ease. She didn't know the reason why she supposed he just liked knowing where everything is.

It had come to her notice that Naruto's desk faced the entrance to the classroom, meaning he could see everyone in the class without really having to turn his head. He also had his back to the wall, meaning no one could sneak up on him. Not to mention with the window so close, he could also see the school's ground. Hinata didn't know why it dawned on her late that summer but perhaps it was because of the news that Naruto had accepted becoming her bodyguard. She was a little upset by that but when Hiashi told her that he didn't pressure Naruto into taking the roll but rather the blond was eager to take it, she found her feelings on the matter complicated.

But after the trial week with Naruto, she realized that Naruto being her bodyguard was just a facet of their relationship. It wasn't the 'be all' of their connection. He was already her friend before he became her bodyguard. His concern for her went beyond just his duty and she suspected that Hiashi relied on that to have an effective bodyguard that will understand her needs. The professional ones under her family's employ tended to be too strict and impersonal and whenever she had one attached to her when they were oversea, Hinata often felt caged and watched. She understands their positions and professionalism, true, but she cannot help the way she feel about it.

But even after he was revealed to be her bodyguard, Naruto didn't act any different. Hinata had worried about that when she heard about him but to her surprise and great relief, Naruto remained Naruto. Sure nowadays she noticed that he's extremely alert but it was only because she knew him from before that she noticed the shift in him. Naruto had always been alert of his surrounding, his eyes will always roam around despite keeping his focus on whomever he was interacting with, but he will always drop that alertness after a while. Now, however, he never dropped it.

His eyes grew sharper, his posture would look more relaxed but something in his gait set the other guards around on edge. She once overheard her maids who also double as her guards at home said that Naruto's deadly. She later had gotten into the security room and looked over the record of the day Naruto was tested and to her shock she learned that he was an expert of hand to hand combat. He also knew how to handle weapons, especially throwing daggers. Though he wasn't a gymnast, he moved like one as he ran around the room to take advantage of the angle to get to his opponents and take them down. And when they told him to get across the training building without getting caught, Naruto didn't appear in any of the cameras but after 15 minutes, he was suddenly in the designated room, pressing the button declaring his victory in their little game.

Naruto also showed that he could handle extreme condition after they made him ran through a forest with heavy equipment, being told that his mission was to reach the designated location within 48 hours. None of the ambushers could find him. They only knew that he was moving even through the night by the tracker they placed in his bag. Most of all, he moved at a quick and steady pace without stopping to rest even once. The Head of Security, Kiri Ao, was impressed as it felt like he was watching an ace Special Force. In the end, Naruto made it to the location in 36 hours.

They would have made him go through more training, something that Hinata suspected that Ao wanted to do out of curiosity from how well Naruto was doing, but summer has come to an end and class has started. They had to put testing and training Naruto thoroughly on hold and instead focused on familiarizing him with the duty of a bodyguard and training him in firearms. Ao wanted him to get a license just in case.
