A new start

11 AM

An unconscious body lying motionlessly on Touka's bed. The sun has risen to the top, heating the room, and the sunlight shining brightly. The blinds of the window at the bed have closed, making a dark and cool atmosphere during the sunny weather. 

Kaneki's finger slightly twitched. Then he keeps being unconscious and motionless.

After a while, his finger twitched again, and then keeps being unconscious. There's only Kaneki in the room, no one but him alone.

His eyes are heavily open a little, still numb, and haven't gained full consciousness of reality.

Taking a minute adapting to reality. Kaneki finally has some cognition about what is happening. The first thing that catches his sense is a comfortable feeling that feels like he hasn't had it for years.

Going with that is a lovely smell that is familiar to Kaneki, he's addicted to this smell, and it stimulates his sense quickly. He opens his eyes and takes a few seconds for his brain to recognize what is happening.

...Urgg... What is happening? Kaneki in a dull state asks himself about what is happening. He temporarily can't even remember who he is.

Kaneki's exhausted body can't manage to move as it's still pretty weak after everything had happened. With this comfortable feeling and lovely smell, his instinct told him that he was safe, so there was nothing to worry about, at least at the moment. 

He loosens up under the warm blanket and closes his eyes, just taking his time to regain from the exhaustion. It has been a long time since he has had a good chance to relax and feels comfortable like this. So he just appreciate it.

By the way... This is not my room. 

Kaneki thought in his blurry mind, his hands moving randomly all over the place. He blithely touches a soft object near his arm. He adjusts his head lightly to see what's the object he's touching. And saw a bunny teddy bear.

"A Bunny teddy bear? Oh yea, this belongs to Touka" Kaneki immediately recognize the object was Toukas'. "Wait... Touka?"

As that thought runs through him, he thinks about Touka and becomes more active. He starts looking around the room and quickly jumps to a conclusion. "This is Touka's room", he knows it, but he still stays calm.

Now he's in this position, he quickly knows that somehow Anteiku has found him and brought him here. 

And now that his brain power has gained back full consciousness, his memory starts flowing back like crazy. Everything about that raid, everything came back in an instant, making heartache and it hurt. His eye's starting to fill with tears.

"...Kaneki! You have to live..." That voice keeps echoing in his head

Putting his arm across his eyes to prevent tears from dripping down his face. "Damn it!" He cursed under his breath, trying to control his emotion. This was so hurtful to endure.

"Onii-chan! You're awake!" Hinami yells happily from the door as she sees her big brother. Hinami was holding a tray in her hands, with Water and some food on the tray. "I have brought some food here for you," She said then bring the tray to Kaneki.

"Hinami" Kaneki saw Hinami and quickly wipe the tears from his eyes with his arm, quickly sitting up and leaning his back against the bedrail. Besides calling Hinami, Kaneki has nothing to say.

"How do you feel? Does your body feel hurt or something?" Hinami puts the tray on the night table next to the bed. "Are you hungry?"

"I'm good, Hinami. My body feels well, just a bit tired" Kaneki said, his hand moving toward the tray to take the water bottle on it. He drinks a large amount of water, then put it back on the tray. "Oh god, so satisfied" Kaneki express as his thirst had disappeared.
