~TWENTY-EIGHT~

Two weeks later.

I sat in the court room. The gang sat behind me.
Lucas and his parents, and Bob and his parents were both sitting a couple feet away from me. We all faced the judge.

"Delaney Tina Winston correct?" The judge asked.

I nodded  " Yes your honor" I said. I gulped.

"You plead not guilty for the murder of Marty Chance correct?"

"Yes your honor." I said with hesitation. I looked over and Lucas eyes were practically burning a hole through my scull with his stare.

"Please tell us why you plead not guilty." The judge said.

"My friend Johnny Cade and I were walking from my house to the park at night. We uh got to the monkey bars and were just sitting there until we saw a car pull around the neighborhood. Then Ponyboy Curtis saw us and came over to us. He sat with us for a bit too until the people in the car saw us and drove up to us. Lucas and I exchanged some words. I got scared and pulled out my switchblade from my back pocket. All I did was open it. I wasn't planning on using it. Lucas grabbed my arm and his friends cased my friends. They dragged Ponyboy to the fountain and tried drowning him. I managed to escape. I tried to stop Marty but he was too strong. Pony was dying! I saved him!" I said. 

"Ms Winston can you tell my why you and your friends were out at the park at one in the morning?" She asked seriously.

"Johnny had it rough back at home so I let him spend the night at my house but we couldn't sleep." I said not wanting to call Dallas out for something so gross.

After hearing Lucas and Bobs case she made her decision.

"I hear by declare Delaney Tina Winston not guilty for the death of Marty Chance" she said.

After she said that the gang erupted with cheers. After I ran over to Soda. He picked me up and swung me around while kissing me.

"Alright you two! Get a room!" Dallas yelled covering his eyes.

Soda and I smiled at each other until we started laughing. He kissed me again but this time it was slower and more passionate. Soda pulled away.

"I think someone's here to see you" he said.

I turned around.
"Joshua!" I ran into his arms.
"I've missed you so much!" I said.

"I missed you to Delaney but I'm here now. I'm not leaving this time" he said. My eyes grew wide.

"Your staying in Tulsa?!" I asked as a huge smile grew on my face.

"I sure am" he said.
