The black man has been oppressed
His voice drowned out in vain
In a system that causes pain

In a lifelong fight against hate

Our black brothers and sisters have been oppressed
For far too long  we've been ignored

Made to suffer, and even repressed
This is an outrage

Sellouts have been selling out

Claiming black lives matter is fabrication and a myth

Political parties be trying to divide us

To make us think that we're not anything

No one should ever have to endure such pain

A system that is built on greed
And powered by discrimination
Where the chances of a black man succeed
Are vastly reduced in comparison

In unjust decisions made by those in power
Their words and hands can kill
Creating a situation so bitter and sour
Black men and black women are dying

Not only by the minute

But also by the hour

Their innocence is their sin

Accused and doomed from the start
Punished because of the color of their skin

And the place of their birth

Society's hate drives the poisonous veil
Built thick, to dehumanize black lives
Making racism alive and well
To shield lofty goals and survive

Being black is not a crime
It's our truth to be respected
For in a world where racism reigned
No people of color were protected

Black is not a felony nor a misdemeanor

Neither life in prison nor a death sentence

Black is beautiful

Something that we all should know
It's time to make sure the world will never fail to show;
There's power in challenging norms

Power in diversity to which we will grow

Racism is extremely evil

No matter the cost

We will drag this issue up
We will prove the lies you've spoken wrong

Black Lives Matter.
