*Inspired by true events, written based upon Ben Howard's song "Depth Over Distance" and created under the inventiveness of Alysia Harris poem "Depth Over Distance"

Depth over distance every time, my dear
And this tree of ours may grow tall in the woods
But it's the roots that will bind us here
To the ground

Depth over distance was all I asked of you
And I may be foolish to fall as I do
Still, there's strength in the blindness you fear
If you're coming too
If you're coming too

My chest was greeted gently with your head laying against it

The sweet aroma of waffles came from the kitchen

I was serenated by the barking of your terrier

As I made my way into the dining room

The sun rose

While you laid so eloquently and peaceful

Words in my mind started to birth a new poem

And I can feel you making your way out of bed

Into the living room

Ready to not only start work

But to ask me how did I sleep

And to salute me with a deep and long kiss

The fragrance of Japanese Cherry Blossom

Had my nose infatuated with your scent

While Kelontae Gavin's "Hold Me Close" came on

You started to sing with such precision, baby

We could've worshipped together all night and all day

When I looked at you

I seen God face to face and didn't die

But fell awestruck on my knees

Because I never knew perfection existed

Until we connected

Kissing you was the moment I started to live

We were locked in and in sync

Our spirits were in tune

And when we decided to be intimate

We weren't ashamed

We concealed time and love was made while we made love

I didn't mind drowning in your oceans

Because our relationship was beyond surface level

Nothing was shallow or superficial

It didn't lack character or understanding

Despite a few mistakes

Beauty was made in our hearts

The first time we actually spent time together, was after church

I didn't expect our clothes to come off after going before God in worship

But I didn't care

I was craving you and you were craving me

You took my hand

Your kiss sent joy in my body
