As I finished eating Judy's cooking, she got up, washed the dished real quick while John talked a bit with me, then she announced:
"Oh, I forgot we had to take Jimmy to the dentist! We had the appointment in half an hour, right John?!"
"Holy saints, I really forgot! Jim, go and wash your teeth! And hurry, you can't lose this appointment!" and they all hurried like a tornado, and, when they were ready to leave...
"Arty, you watch the house with Mary."
And they closed the door. What could be more obvious than their act?! Honestly now!
-Arthur-
And rain started pouring again. Not officially, but in my head.
I looked at Mary as she had a troubled face while looking endlessly at the door. She then went and locked it.
"That's what they meant when they said to watch over the house, no? My parents always ordered me to lock it when they left."
I burst into laughing as I realized how innocent she was.
I really wanted her. But how should I tell her this?
I sat on the sofa, wiping my tears, and looked at nothing in front of me.
She came and sit next to me, looking at that nothing.
"What happened today?" I started.
"Nothing important. Why?"
"You know what I mean."
"Ah, that. Well, I was pretty angry because Olivia didn't put in enough heart in that song. It's my mom's favorite, and I couldn't let her sing that way."
"True; she's an atheist."
"WHAT?! And you let her sing it anyway?!"
I'm scared a bit now.
"Her voice is made for soul, but she's wasting it. She said that she had learned a song, and I thought it was okay to give it a shot."
"You're starting to annoy me" she said as she got up.
Until now, there was a little light in her eyes that really made her cute and lively. But now, that light was gone, and she seemed very scary.
"What did I do?" I asked as I got up.
"You were trying to kiss me earlier, but then, ever since Olivia got into the picture, you only defended her. Since she came, we didn't talk about anything but her."
"Mary, I just..."
"I really though you liked me, Arthur. But now I just think that that time you wanted to whisper something in my ear or take a bug out of my hair, or an eyelash from my cheek."
"Mary, that's not..."
