The day for the final concert came; many families were seated, waiting for the show to begin. The chorus started it with a song and then the principal spoke, then many other people... Mary was fidgeting next to me in the backstage, knowing she wasn't really ready for all of this. Olivia, on the other hand, seemed very content.
We heard a round of applauds from the public and Mr. Dobson informed us it was our time to shine. I heard Mary's nervous system break and I quickly asked her the first thing that came through my mind, to distract her attention. I put my hands on her face, making her to look into my eyes, and said:
"Tell me things you like me for."
"You're mature, tall, handsome, smell nice, childish, great teacher, great pianist and good kisser" she said with only a breath and we both blushed, then I kissed her as a sign of acknowledgement.
"You rock, now go and shine!" and I pushed her next to Olivia.
I took my seat at the piano and waited for Olivia to signal me.
I started playing the notes.
- Mary -
I don't believe it. Stupid Arthur, I can't believe you made me say all those things! GOD...
I listened to Olivia's brilliant performance as she slowly moved her body like dancing, taking all the notes and pitches. She was really good, and I had to prepare for my entrance. Then Arthur's face popped up in my head and I realized I needn't be perfect. Just sing to my advantage.
I started:
"Time stands still
Incredibly low-pitched voice
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will be brave and fight
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Nothing, Nothing can break my ice castle, for I am Mary, I am Elsa.
Every breath
Every hour has come to this...
One step closer...
I have died every day, waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid, I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
And I did
Time has brought your heart to me
And it did
I have loved you for a thousand years...
I'll love you for a thousand more..."
Olivia joined me for the grand finale and the song beautifully finished. Everyone was cheering and clapping their hands. I was happy I didn't mess it that bad.
We want back in the backstage and Olivia jumped on Arthur and hugged him, seeming overly-happy.
With our song, the show has ended and my sister came to pick me up. I was taller than her, and it all looked weird when she took my hand and we walked to different cars outside. She took her husband's, while I took mine. Pretty awkward if you ask me.
- Arthur -
She sang brilliantly, no doubt. It was nothing like what we rehearsed, and I'm sure it was because of my little cheer before the performance. I still can't believe she said all of that without a second thought.
You're mature, tall, handsome, smell nice, childish, great teacher, great pianist and good kisser
"Arty, so you have a cold? Your face is really red" my brother made me snap back to reality.
"No... But I might be sick."
"Let me guess, Love sickness?"
