Spending my winter with Arthur was one thing I would never forget. Christmas was celebrated in American style, but it wasn't as different from Romania, except my mom would make a lot more food. His family gave me a cute gift too, a hair pin with white and pink flowers, and Arthur himself gave me a new book to add to my collection. Jimmy, as well, insisted to sing me the whole Frozen soundtrack and I had to listen to my fan.
Cassey and Miranda each gave me a muffler, and I gave them one too.My sister insisted that cooking a Christmas dinner wasn't enough, so she bought me some clothes, and I had to give her a diary. She didn't understand the meaning to the baby on the cover, but then she understood that I knew before she told me, but still was very happy. Her husband gave me money, and I bought some gasoline for my car, and for his too.
I gave Arthur a kiss under the mistletoe, without anyone noticing, and spent the evening with him. I felt super bad that I didn't buy him anything, because I had no idea what he would like... He said that having me with him was the best present. We exchanged information the next day.
"Your weakness" he said.
"You're starting off with that? Fine. My bodily weakness is my birthmark, located on my right leg in the middle of my thigh."
"Really?! Mine is my birthmark too! But it's on my nape."
"Can I see it?"
"No?"
"Why?"
"I just said it's my weakness. If you're willing to see it so bad, show me yours too."
"I'm not going to take my pants off until summer."
"Them I won't show you mine until summer either."
And suddenly I wished it was summer.
"Favorite genre of stories you write?"
"Romance and young adult."
"Ah, yeah, you're a girl. I bet you're going to say you're team Jacob or something."
"I am team Edward Elric. I am team Maxon. I always wished Bella to be with Edward, but he was never my type, and in such terms Jacob would be my favorite. Now you tell me what kind of story you usually like to read."
"So not a genre."
"No."
"Well, I really like those stories in which the main character starts off as very weak and grows during the action. Like, winning a fight at the end he has lost at the beginning."
"Cliche."
"Well, everyone likes those kind of stories. You don't?"
"I love very strong main characters and it is true I get overly excited when a weak one shows a slight level up... But I usually like to write my characters very strong psychically, and grow up mentally when someone weaker or better shows them the true joy of life or something. And death.I like to kill characters. I think a story in which the main character dies is brilliant. I am not that a normal girl, am I?"
He leaned to give me a kiss then he sat at his piano. His parents and Jimmy were someone out in town and left Arthur and me watch the house. Again.
"I want to know the range of your songs which you can sing. Sing me a song that you couldn't some time ago, even if you had mastered it since then or not."
"Fine, I can sing you a song which definitely shamed me in 8th grade and it still haunts me."
"Which one?"
"Fly me to the moon, Frank Sinatra."
"Well, it is a hard song..."
"No, that wasn't it. I tried to sing a cover by some little girl more talented than I, and I ended up screwing everything up."
"Then sing."
He started playing the piano, his aura definitely merrier than a few days ago.
"Fly me to the moon,
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me...
Fill my heart with song,
And let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship, and adore;
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you..."
"Well that was great. You overcame your childhood fear and I bet everyone has forgotten it already. In other words, darling, kiss me..."
His voice was very low pitched and I jumped to kiss him immediately.
"Anything else you want to know about me?"
"Your favorite food?"
"There is no such thing. Meat is my favorite vegetable, and watermelon is my fruit. Don't even try to feed me beans or any kind of it, and no pork, unless it's steak."
"Sure."
"What about you?"
"I'd definitely rather have ice-cream and not think about anything else. What I don't like is... Hmm..."
"Don't tell me you like everything."
"I am not picky. My mother cooks everything worth a million dollars, and I never complained about anything. Well, there must be something that I don't like... Oh, I hate sour things and garlic."
"Lemon?"
"Ew."
"I love you. I'll make sure I always have a lemon and a garlic with me."
"I love you too and I hope from the bottom of my heart that you weren't speaking seriously."
"I love you" and I smiled without giving him an answer. He understood that I won't tell him and that it's highly probably I was serious.
