The movie starts off with a billboard of Mary Jane on Broadway as Y/n Parker is once again heard doing his own narrative of his story as New York's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Y/n: "She looks at me every day. Mary Jane Watson. Oh, boy. If she only knew how I felt about her. But she can never know. I made a choice once to live a life of responsibility. A life she can never be a part of. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man, given a job to do. And I'm Y/n Parker, and I, too, have a job."
Y/n is seen riding on his scooter off to work, while also looking at the billboard as he admires his childhood crush Mary Jane Watson. Out of the corner of his eyes is his boss however, Mr. Aziz, the owner of Joe's Pizza.
Mr. Aziz: [Calls out to Y/n] Parker. Parker! No, no, no, stop! Stop! [Y/n stops scooter] Parker, you're late, man. Always late.
Y/n: [Apologetic] I'm sorry, Mr. Aziz. There was a disturbance.
Mr. Aziz: Another disturbance. Always a disturbance with you. [Pulls Y/n into Joe's Pizza] Come on, 21 minutes ago, in comes order. Harmattan, Burton & Smith. Eight extra-large deep-dish pizzas. In eight minutes, I am defaulting on Joe's 29-minute guarantee. Then, not only am I receiving no money for these pizzas... but I will lose the customer forever to Pizza Yurt. Look, you are my only hope, all right? You have to make it in time. Y/n, you're a nice guy. But you're just not dependable. This is your last chance. You have to go 42 blocks in 7 1/2 minutes or your ass is fired. [Y/n looks away; looks back to Mr. Aziz] Go!

Y/n goes back to Joe's Pizza having got the pizza to the place, but late. Once he gets there he sees Mr. Aziz standing there after getting a phone call from the customer, now completely disappointed.
Mr. Aziz: [Disappointed] Joe's 29-minute guarantee is a promise, man. I know to you, Parker, a promise means nothing. But to me, it's serious.
Y/n: It's serious to me too, Mr. Aziz.
Mr. Aziz: You're fired. Go.
Y/n: [Distraught] Please, I need this job.
Mr. Aziz: You're fired.
Y/n: [Desperate] Look, give me another chance.
Mr. Aziz looks into Y/n's eyes and walks up to him, only it wasn't to keep him as his pizza delivery boy. He raises his hand to Y/n's head and rips the sticker to Joe's Pizza off, leaving Y/n to look at him with a defeated look on his face. The boy then goes to the Daily Bugle thinking his days as a photographer would be enough to fix this terrible day, but he was as wrong as he was hopeful for MJ to notice him.
J. Jonah Jameson: You're fired. Parker, hello? You're fired!
Y/n: [Confused] Why?
J. Jonah Jameson: [Holds up newspapers; angered] Dogs catching Frisbees? Pigeons in the park? A couple of geezers playin' chess?
