Lizzie's POV

Practice had gone really well yesterday, although I'd struggled with one lift where I have to put my leg over Adrian's shoulder and he then swung me down to the floor, but after a visit from Kayleigh, Chris, Anna, Josh, Oli and Summer- as well as them bringing food since we hadn't left the practice room for the past three hours- I was soon able to do it, although I thanked Summer's words of advice.

"Think like a bird" she'd instructed so of course I'd pissed myself laughing at her advice. But it had worked since when I'd tried the lift afterwards I was able to do it.

Right now I was in the changing area sitting in front of the dressing table as the make up artist stroked foundation over my skin to give me a smooth complexion, it didn't help that I had black circles from lack of sleep last night. Adrian smiled at me in the mirror and I smiled back at him, understanding that he was telling me he trusted and believed in me, with just a simple smile.

"Thank you" I smiled at the woman and she dimpled when she smiled back at me before she nodded and left the room.

"How are you feeling?" Adrian asked, walking over and wrapping his arms around my chest from behind as he rested his chin on my head. I met his eyes in the mirror and shrugged, making his arms and head bobble a tiny bit.

"I'm okay, a lot more nervous than I was yesterday" I said, pressing my lips together at the end and he nodded.

"Well you are bound to be Lizzie, we're not dancing a group number today" he sighed and I nodded at him.

"I know"

"Yes, well we've practiced to the point you could dance it blindfolded while sleeping and I know you can do this Lizzie because if you couldn't I wouldn't have asked you to do this. You're my best friend and I know I can count on you so just trust yourself" he smiled and I grinned back before nodding at him. He pressed his lips to my temple and I let out a little sigh which made him smile at me in the mirror and me to blush before he helped me to my feet.

I looked down at myself and frowned at the outfit. The ones I wore when it was just Adrian and I dancing on our own were picked out by him, because of the colours since he had a specific colour for a specific dance. This dress was floor length and an ivory colour with glitter on the bust area. It had thin straps which were also glittery while a thin silvery fabric covered the top of the dress and went over to my left shoulder in a one shoulder type style. I wore clear dance shoes to match, something which I already had at home since I had a handful of dance shoes in different colours which my parents had bought me when I was seventeen and needed them for college.

"Okay, we're ready for you now" one of the people who worked the competition said from the doorway. We nodded at him and he disappeared as Adrian caught my hand and looped my arm through his and we walked after the guy who showed us the way to the ballroom. This building was quite pretty actually and was one that catered specifically for dance competitions such as this.

We emerged behind the curtains of the stage and Adrian turned me to look at him, before he pressed a kiss to my head.

"It's just the two of us rehearsing at the dance studio back home before the kids arrive" he whispered into my head and I closed my eyes before nodding at him.

"Just us two" I sighed and he smiled before pulling away and leading us down into the middle of the dance floor where we took our starting positions.

The dance passed in a swirl of lights, the fabric of my dress swirling around my legs and Adrian's face wearing a smile that matched my own as we danced and twirled around. I didn't once forget any steps, not that I was expecting to since I'd never worried about forgetting steps.
