As soon as I got home, I knew it was time to start training. I was getting weak and flabby, and I don't think I could have handled that- or much more than 2 reps of 10 on a 3 pound bar right then. I needed muscle, I needed good lungs and fast reflexes. It made me feel good to work out, all those endorphins rushing through me, making me sweat and feel so alive. It helped me escape from everything hat was happening, helped to clear my head, and I knew that the only way I could actually focus on it was if I built somewhere out of the way that would help me get out of the city and into the quiet. And there was only one place I could think of that could do that.
The forest, just on the outskirts of town.
Tomorrow morning, I would get up early, scout out a place, and start to cart old timber from the mills home to build somewhere to store my equipment and work out. But for now, sleep.
I let Bandit go to the bathroom one more time before taking him in for the night. I set my alarm for an hour and a half earlier, then laid in bed with a ball of fluff sleeping on my stomach contentedly. He was drooling a little bit too.
I absent-mindedly stroked his fur for a while, calming myself down before I fell asleep, plans of this new place flowing through my head.

A month later, the building was completed and I had moved everything in. It was about 900 square feet, and had four separate rooms- one for really working out, one for yoga, one for changing (in case anyone else ever came here), and one for the dog. Because, of course Bandit had to come. That was the whole reason I made this place- so that I could pick him up after school and still be able to make it to Bee's Beans on time for work.
Built with extra planks from a lumber factory that they were going to throw away, nails that were rusted or bent out of shape, and a whole lot of other stuff that was 'useless', the whole building had cost nothing but labor and time. Well, and gas money.
I had ended up finding the spot on the edge of some older lady's property, and she said that I could build my spot as long as I promised not to smoke, do drugs, litter on her property, or get a tattoo. I immediately agreed- those terms were so simple, and I didn't even have to do anything more.
I wish I could get some running water, so I could shower, but I'd have to do without. I could shower at school, because if I was going to get up early every morning and work out, I'd have to take a shower so I didn't stink throughout the rest of the day.
But those were the more minor details.
Inside my new 'house', I had a matching yoga mat and yoga ball, and lifting weights. Blankets and pillows were musts, as well as an extra set of headphones, water, and snacks. I had made sure the wood was good and strong so a bear or cougar couldn't break into here and wreck everything, as well as steal my food. I narrowed my eyes at the thought. No one got in between me and my food. Not even a mother bear.
I had gotten a shock collar for Bandit and put a small fence up around the area where he could go, so he was more than likely going to be staying here while I was at school, because that would make it a lot easier for me to get to work on time. There was also a doggy door, bowls, and windows with screens so the bugs couldn't get very bad during later spring and earlier summer.
I was excited to start using this place- besides, who wouldn't want to slim down and tone up?

I smiled when I woke up the next morning, eager for my first day using the 'house'. I packed up my backpack and tucked Bandit into my coat, left a note on the counter for Mom (so she wouldn't flip out when I didn't show up for breakfast), and headed out.
