I clambered upstairs to my bedroom, all thoughts of a job completely gone from my mind. Well, sort of. That pesky little thing called needing money was hanging over my head still, and I was afraid of being poor for the rest of my life, so... Yeah...
But I had pranks to pull!
I started casing Adam's room. Everything would have to go down tonight. It was a Friday, so no curfew, and I would stay up as long as it took Adam to fall asleep- which there were no guarantees on a time, as he may have more than one conquest if you get my meaning.
But I was ready to pull an all-nighter. I had Angel to help with the pranking. Who, speaking of, would be good to find me a job.
I sent her a text.
Hey, find a job yet? -S
She responded almost immediately, which startled me. I thought she was just going through the town, and asking around for places.
Yeah, at a cafe. There's two spots- need one? -An
Score! I started to tap out a response, but there was a knocking on the balcony door. I looked out, and, to my disappointment, was Adam. Just kidding, who else would it be?
"Whaddya want?" I asked snarkily, walking over to the door.
"Get out here and see," he said with a wink. Oh Lordy. I think I'm going to puke.
"Uh, yeah, no. See, I'm not stupid Adam. I know a trap when I see one. The-" Wait, he was gesturing to something behind me. Was it a kidnapper? Don't turn around Stacy, don't turn around. There's no one in here, he's just doing it to trick you. Stay strong and don't turn around whatever the cost.
God dang it Stacy! You had one thing to do, and you were doing so well. At least check the place thorou- never mind, because now Adam's picking the lock. Wonderful. I spun around again to a grinning Adam.
"You fart face." Oh, come on Stacy. Really? That was horrible. "I hate you, and by the way, none of your pranks worked."
He smirked, and I became slightly less uncertain. "Really?" He continued before I had a chance to say anything. Not that it would have come out sounding smart. I was so confused right then, I would have said something like 'no'.
"Because that jam on your face would have told me otherwise."
I rushed to the bathroom in horror. I could have sworn I wiped all of it off. After frantically checking everywhere for a single seed from the jam, I realized that this was just a battle tactic like he had used earlier- distract the Stacy, and plant a trap. And this time, there was no camera to record it.
In horror, I slowly opened the door, where Adam was nowhere to be seen. I walked slowly across the floor, testing each step to see which one would be the last one I took, when I saw the King of A$$holes himself watching me with unsolicited glee from his room.
"You forgot to shut the door when you let yourself out!" I yelled at him.
That's when it exploded all over me. Paint. Hopefully, for the sake of Adam, washable paint. Green and red and blue and yellows from over my head dripped down onto me. My beautiful white carpet now looked like someone had tye-dyed it, and there were spots that should have been white that were colored. I felt my face start to burn as Adam started to cackle from across the balcony.
Just you wait, Adam.
Karma's a bish.

As Adam had cackled earlier, it was my turn to do so now. I started to do that, until Angel hushed me.
