everyone is telling me
that I should have walked away sooner
that I shouldn't have given you
all these chances or all this time
that I should have seen the signs
but they weren't there to see
the good you were to me
you made me so happy
and it was everything I wanted
you were there when I asked
all the times we had a total blast
you did your best to make things last
they fail to acknowledge
that you were more than your mistakes
there were certain times
when things went wrong
and seemed to go on for so long
I held out hope and went along
because I wanted the happy to be lifelong
turns out they were right though
I was the one who failed to understand
the signs weren't telling me to proceed with caution
they were telling me to stop
