AUDENZIA

Sisters. Nova had come up with an elaborate way just to tell me that new dragon was her sister.

The two of us were back in the same clearing looking for any trace of her when I saw something sticking out of the grass. A dart, with some purple liquid inside.

I looked around the meadow, and noticed a trap. Nova was about to walk into before I yelled at her. "Nova, don't move!" She stopped with a fright and stayed in her spot. I grabbed a rock and tossed it onto the trap. It snapped shut.

Nova growled at it, i cursed. "We can't be out here alone. Let's go." Nova ran towards me and I swiftly hopped on her saddle. We raced back to the village.

I found Gobber, Hiccup, Eret, Tuffnut, and Astrid.

"Someones here." I announced, setting the tranquilizer on the table.

"Huh?" Gobber asked, everyone facing me.

"They managed to slip past our scouts and lay a trap in the woods."

"Let me at him!" Gobber yelled, angrily, trying to move past us.

"Slow down, Gobber." Hiccup stopped him. "Let's get a search team on the ground, scouts in the air. Auden, you and Nova fly the coastline."

"Uh, I wouldn't advise taking Nova anywhere, Chief." Eret interrupted. "I know this handiwork." He was examining the tranquilizer. "Grimmel the Grisly. Famous back where I'm from. The smartest dragon hunter I ever met. Well, next to me of course."

"Well he cant be that smart if he left his trap unmanned." Hiccup shrugged.

Eret chuckled, "Nothing is accidental when it comes to old Grimmel. He lives for the hunt. To get inside the mind of his prey, to control its every choice. It's all a game to him."

"Well, he doesn't know who he's playing with." Astrid sassed, nudging my arm with her elbow.

"We've dealt with this kind before." I said, subconsciously touching my blind eye.

"Don't underestimate him, Audenzia. You're a smart girl, an amazing leader and fighter. You need to prepare for this as if you've never done before. Mark my words, he'll be back."

I stood up tall against Eret. "Then I'll be waiting for him."

Everyone was in place, Nova and I in the living room, looking down at my map. Nova was "sleeping" underneath a blanket but it was really Fishlegs pretending to be her.

I heard thudding footsteps above my head and stood up. I grabbed my inferno and turned around. A strange man was standing in my home at the counter across from me.

"Well, I hope you don't mind if I help myself." He gestured towards our water and filled himself a glass. I lit up my weapon and held it towards him. "That is impressive, but let me finish my drink."

I glanced over at Nova's sleeping body and the man shot a purple dart at her. "Nova..." I gasped, "What did you do to her."

The man shrugged. "Nothing she won't sleep off." The man smiled at me. "General Audenzia. Hm? Or do I call you Audenzia? What do you prefer?" I stayed silent. He pulled his hood down. "You have no idea who I am, do you? Well, your mama and papa knew of me." He mocked in a child-like voice. My grip tightened on my inferno.

"You know nothing of my parents." I growled.

"Sure I do! He was my brother, after all. Hm, maybe I should call you, little niece." I gasped slightly. "Now, he was a General. Second hand to one of the greatest dragon hunters to have ever lived. What would he think of you? My dear brother, and your old Chief had it right, y'know? Making it their mission to destroy the beasts so that you could grow up in a better world."

"Chief Stoic changed his mind, and my father would've too."

"And look where that got him." The man shook his head. "Let's get to the point. I am the night fury killer. I've hunted every last one but yours, and your chief's. You are going to give me your dragon, or I will-"

"I will never give her up."

The man chuckled, knocking my inferno out of his way. "You wish dragons to live free among us like equals? A toxic notion, little niece. History has shown that we are the superior species. What if word of your misguided ideas were to spread? It would be the undoing of civilization as we know it.

He was standing next to Nova and grunted. He kicked her tail and Fishlegs emerged sleepily from the blanket. "Did we... get him?" He passed out.

Using the inferno, I stole his weapon from him and flung it away. "Now!" Everyone jumped out of their spots, wielding their weapons.

"Sorry to barge in!" Gobber said.

I pointed the inferno directly at the mans face. "You think you can come into my home, throw dirt on my fathers name, and threaten my dragon? This is Berk, and we have defended our way of life from far worse than you."

"Oh! A fighting spirit, just like your fathers. I love it. Only, I'm afraid you're mistaken. You've never seen anything like me. And now I know, it'll be just as fun killing you, as it was my brother and his wife." He chuckled darkly.

I looked at him shocked as he turned around and whistled for something. I gripped my inferno tightly as I jumped on the man, we rolled until he was kneeling on top of me. He held me down by my throat, I scratched and punched him, begging him to let me go so I could breathe.

A dragon burned a hole through our roof and the others jumped into action.

"This is the fight you will not win." He said, quoting Gobber from earlier. "Give me your Nova, and your Toothless and the suffering will end for you my dear niece."

"I am not your family." I growled, struggling to breathe from both his hand around my throat and the smoke.

"Have my dragons ready by the time I return, or I will destroy everything you love." He squeezed tighter around my throat for a few extra moments before getting off of me and disappearing into the fire.

I coughed violently and pushed myself off the ground. I grabbed my inferno, and realized everyone was already safe outside.

I stumbled until I was outside, landing on my knees in front of my burning home. I stared at the ground below me, fuming.

I looked up and noticed the other homes of Berk were burning as well.

We have to leave. We have to.
