Chapter 12

"I-Is that a The Fault in our Stars poster?" Dean asked, his brows knitted together as he masked a focused expression.

I looked behind me and back at him and let out a soft chuckle, "Yeah, as a matter of fact, it is."

He relaxed back in his seat and chuckled as well.

"I'm surprised you can see it." I said to him, sipping from the straw of my soda.

"I can make out the edge." He said, making a pointy gesture with his fingers.

"Hold on." I placed my cup down on my desk and held my phone in hand, moving it to the direction of the poster so he could see it well.

"Nice." I saw him nod right before I placed my phone back in the position it was. "I-Is it okay to place a The Fault in Our Stars poster in your office, though? Isn't that like another book, another publishing house thingy?"

I furrowed my brows, "I don't know, I've never really thought about it that way. Besides, it's my office, I can decorate it however I like."

About a week and few days had gone by since I arrived back in Bath. Everything had been going well, to say the least. Work had been fine and I wasn't doing such a bad job in staying in touch with Chris and Dean.

Connor and I had also still not had a conversation about everything that transpired between us. Frankly, I didn't want to have that conversation. It wasn't like I regretted having sex with him, I just didn't know what to make of it because I wasn't sure if I wanted to explore a relationship with him seeing as we were coworkers.

I just didn't see it wise.

Moving on, I was having my own mini lunch break in my office and I was FaceTiming with Dean, who was also seated in his office.

"Sure, you can." He fiddled with a pen. "Can I see the rest of your office decor?"

"Absolutely." I nodded. "But, only if you promise to show me yours as well."

"Deal."

"Okay, so," I took my phone in my hand again and switched it to the back camera. "That's my office door, that's my wall, clock, that's a poster of my first book, that's a frame of a staff group picture, that's my curtain, that's, of course, the The Fault in Our Stars poster."

I could see the small smile on his face as I moved my phone around, trying to show him everything.

I continued, "This is my desk. That's the chair on the opposite side of my desk, that's my computer, these are piles of documents, files and manuscripts. That's a picture frame of me-"

"-that's a-that's a really good picture." He cut in.

"-why, thank you." I chuckled. "That's another frame of me and my family and I think that's about it."

"Wow." Dean said with a smile just as I switched it back to front camera and placed my phone back in its former position. "Looks great, for real."

"Thank you." I picked my soda back up and drank from it. "Your turn."

"Alright." It was his turn to switch to his back camera. "That's my office door, that's a company logo frame, that's my wall clock, that's a sofa, that's a flower vase beside the sofa, those are the chairs on the opposite side of my desk. This is my desk; documents, files and whatnot. My computer, a frame of me and my dad and a frame of Amber and I. And yeah, I think that's all."

I bit my lip just as he switched back to front camera, "Looks way better than mine."

"Shut up." He laughed softly.
