Chapter 56"Hold on, so she just texted you?" Lydia asked, raising one questioning brow. "Out of nowhere?"
I nodded, "Yeah."
"And she's on her way here right now?" She asked again, her eyes going from mine to Dean's continually.
Dean and I both nodded.
As Lydia had promised, she stopped by that night.
It wasn't long after she arrived that we filled her in on what had happened, which was the texts I received from Greta. It seemed like she was still trying to wrap her head around the whole thing.
Lydia read through the texts again with my phone in her hand, "But what exactly do you think she wants to say to you? She didn't particularly give enough context before you invited her over."
I moved over to where Lydia stood and looked at the conversation again.
Me: why?
Greta: can we meet somewhere private & talk?
Me: how does my apartment sound?
Greta: that's okay.
Me: I'll send a pin rn.
"Look," I said again, "I just feel that it's fantastic that the one person that believes me, aside you guys, was Connor's assistant. And the fact that she wants to meet and talk? I can't pass that up."
"Exactly." Dean jumped in, agreeing with me.
"And to be honest, I always found the way Greta left pretty shady." I told them. "I-I don't know, something about the story Connor told me just wasn't adding up."
"Yeah, you mentioned that to me..." Lydia said, thinking about it.
"I don't know, what if-" I paused, shrugging lightly, "what if Connor did the same thing to her?"
Lydia furrowed her brows, "You really think so?"
"I wouldn't put it past him." Dean said.
"Okay, so what time is she getting here?" Lydia asked.
As if on cue, the doorbell rang.
"Right on time." I gave a small smile before making my way towards the front door and unlocking it.
I pulled it open and it was no surprise to see Greta standing in front of me.
It was the first time we were both at such close proximity with each other. I never got the chance to know her on a personal basis because when she started working at Spring was around the same time Connor stopped speaking to me. And I think I was just done with forming friendships with his assistants only for them to just up and leave.
It was the first time I really noticed the bluish green color of her eyes and how her hair was a fine line between brown and red. She was dressed in a simple black crop top on grey sweatpants and Nike slides and her hair was pulled back into a center-parted bun. She smelled fresh, like she had taken a shower before she got here and her face was completely void of any form of makeup and I would say she was a very beautiful person.
"Hey." She said to me, standing a bit awkwardly.
"Hey Greta." I gave her a small smile, stepping aside so she could come in.
Immediately she did, I closed the door and locked it. She waited for me to lead her further into the living room and she seemed a bit surprised to see Lydia and Dean sitting on the sofa.
