Chapter 25

I felt most of my coworkers eyes on me as I made my way to where Dean stood.

"Careful, Dean. Getting me food like this is like the fastest way to my heart." I joked. "If you go on like this, you'll be trying to stop me from ripping your clothes off."

He laughed deeply at that, "Shut up."

Then, he handed the takeout bags to me. I felt my smile grow wider as I looked through the content of the bag.

"So, I wasn't sure exactly what you felt like having so I got burger and fries from McDonalds." I went through the bags as he listed them for me. "Then I stopped by the convenience store to get a few junk and of course, your favourite-"

"-ice cream." I completed his sentence immediately my eyes sighted it in the bag.

It wasn't just ice cream, it was my favourite.

Strawberry chocolate chip.

"Ugh," I wiped a fake tear off my eyelid, "now you want to ruin my makeup."

He laughed.

"Thank you, Dea-"

"Oh my God, Dean is here." Lydia appeared from nowhere beside me, startling both Dean and I. "Hi Dean!"

Dean returned her smile, "Hi..."

"Dean, this is Lydia." I introduced her. "I told you about her before."

"Yes, of course." He extended his hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you."

She shook his hand, "Nice to meet you too. I've heard so much about you."

"Really?" Dean sent a look my way.

"Shut up, Lyd." I nudged her shoulder.

"Aw, you got her food." Lydia smiled immediately she noticed the bags in my hand. "That's really nice of you. She hasn't had anything to eat all day."

Dean simply smiled.

"Did you come to pick her up?" Lydia asked again. "It's past 5 already."

"You're done for the day?" Dean asked me.

I nodded, "Yeah, but I drove here so..."

"And you were supposed to drive me to Carlton's. You can just give me the keys and save yourself the stress." Lydia said with pleading eyes. "I promise to take it back to your place in one piece. So, you can just go with Dean."

I looked at Dean, "Is that okay with you?"

"Of course." He said with a nod.

I heard someone clear their throat behind me and I looked to see that it was Kendra.

I almost forgot that I bolted out of her office without giving her an explanation.

"Oh, um, Kendra, this is Dean." I introduced with a smile. "Dean, Kendra."

"Nice to meet you, ma'am." He extended his hand.

"Ma'am?" She shook his hand. "Please, call me Kendra."

He nodded with a friendly smile, "I've heard a lot about you."

"Likewise." She said with a small smile. "From both my son and Grace."

I wasn't sure how necessary it was to bring Kyle up in that moment but I tried my best to laugh it off. There was no need for any awkward atmosphere.

"Well, since I'm done for the day, I'll just head off with Dean." I said to her.
