Chapter 11

I was back in Bath.

It felt good to be back but it was also hard to not miss the feeling of home and the time I spent with everyone. It felt good being back in my apartment which always had this warm and cozy feeling.

The entire weekend, I spent unpacking and simply enjoying my own company. I also spent quite some time texting with Dean. I had sent him selfies with the pink jacket he got me just as I had promised and we just continued texting from there.

At some point, I started to feel bad texting someone else's boyfriend so much, putting myself in Amber's shoes and wondering if I'd be comfortable with my boyfriend texting his ex so much. Every time the thought crossed my mind, I'd tell myself that I won't respond again, but then I always found myself texting back whenever he sent a text.

I struggled with my subconscious to convince myself that it wasn't such a bad thing. Dean and I did say we were back to being friends and friends text each other all the time, right?

Anyways, it was Monday and I had to be up early for work.

I did my usual morning routine; I listened to my favourite podcast on spotify, brushed my teeth, showered and got dressed. I had a blue chiffon top on a black pair of trousers and black heels to match. I let my hair fall in loose curls on my shoulder and I didn't do much for my makeup, as usual.

On my way to work, I stopped by my favourite coffee shop to get coffee and bagels. By the time I got to work, the cup of coffee had already reduced a considerable amount.

I made a quick stop at Kendra's office and she squealed excitedly when her eyes landed on me.

"Grace!" She practically jumped in excitement from her seat. "Come here!"

I rushed over to hug her, sharing her excitement.

"Talk about obsessed." I gloated when we pulled away. "You missed me that much, huh?"

"Oh, shut up." Her British accent was thick and fluent as usual. "I didn't even notice you were gone."

"Right." I gave her a look.

Kendra looked absolutely gorgeous, as usual. She was dressed in a blue and black corporate dress and she had black stilettos on her feet. Her dirty blonde hair flowed gloriously down to her lower back. Her milky skin looked clearer than the last time I saw her and she couldn't keep the wide grin that showed off her perfect dentition, off her face.

She kissed her teeth, "How was LA? How is everyone?"

"LA was good, Kendra, for real." I said, remembering how nice it was. "It was so nice to see everyone, you know? I wish I could've stayed longer."

"Aww." She smiled as she watched me speak.

"I, um, I was also on this talk show where I talked about my books, mostly the second-"

"The Sasha Chorus show, yeah." She cut in. "We saw that."

I smiled.

"Were you still able to attend the conference by the Ronald brothers?"

"Yeah." I answered her question. "Kendra, it was amazing."

"Figured." She smiled at my enthusiasm. "I'm sure it was great being around so many successful people."

"It really was." I sighed. "What about you? How did you guys survive here without my presence? Must've been tough without the sweet bundle of joy that is me."

"We were fairing just alright without you, thank you for asking." She rolled her eyes playfully. "Most of us didn't even notice you were gone."

"Really?" I gave her a look. "Cause I got about three to four 'we missed you, Grace' just walking up here to your office."
