Two fucking days.
I wait two fucking days before Joey finally sets up a meeting to talk about my impending fight.
It's not like I've never done it before—I've done it a lot.
I don't know why he needs to think so hard about it.
I shove open the front doors of Malice.
"Wait!" Nicks sprints over to me.
I can't stop staring at his hair flopping in the air with every stride he gallops, and because it's the lightest blonde I've ever seen, it's like a beacon.
"What?" I ask, forcing myself to look in his icy grey eyes instead.
He stands in the entryway, blocking me from coming through, arms outstretched.
"Hades, man, please," he says desperately. "Don't do this!"
"Stop being so fucking dramatic." I shove him out of the way and walk in deeper.
Because it's midday, everything is empty.
Empty aside from Lana, Coco, Angelo, and Savvy.
They're all looking at me, huddled together in a VIP booth.
"Tell them, guys!" Nicks says hysterically.
I blame Savvy for his over-the-top behavior. If he and her were on good terms, he'd be obsessing over her, not me.
"Do you want another beach healing session?" Coco asks kindly.
"Do you want some weed, dude?
Angelo asks. "I'll let you raid my stash.""Do you want to consider how fucking stupid this is?" Savvy says, rolling her eyes.
Lana doesn't say anything.
She looks at me thoughtfully and I raise my eyebrows at her.
"What?" I snap.
"Don't raise your voice at me." She says coldly.
"Alright, sorry." I sigh.
"LANA TELL HIM!" Nicks begs.
"He'll win." She says calmly.
"What?" Nicks, Coco, Angelo, and Savvy all say in unison.
They look at her, eyes wide, mouths dropped open.
It's quite comical.
"Lana, my lovely friend, do you understand the severity of the situation he wants to be put in? It's so violent!"
"Yo, what? Do you need some weed?"
"I love you Lana, but do you really think he can fucking do it?"
"I TRUSTED YOU! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THE VOICE OF REASON TO GET HIM TO STOP THIS MADNESS!"
"Hayden is more than capable of beating any opponent," she says. "People are behaving like animals every time they walk into this building."
"What are you saying?" Nicks says.
"I'm saying, if we hold a tournament, when Hades wins time and time again, people are going to think twice before being disrespectful under this roof." She leans back.
"I guess things have been a little wild around here," Angelo says.
"People aren't as scared as they used to be." Savvy agrees.
Good, they're coming around to the idea.
"Yeah, and what if he loses? What if he gets killed?" Nicks scoffs.
