Another brief recap because I have posted in fucking forever: Bree was kidnapped by someone, Hades and everyone was looking for her, then Hades was tranquillised because he was being hysterical and now we are back to Bree's POV and wherever the hell she is. Also I figured out that "Holly/Hillary/whatever else staring with H" is actually called Hallie, I scoured through all my chapters and in one of them Hades asks her what her name is and she says it's Hallie, so mystery solved. Sorry for being gone so long xxx
—————————————————————-You know when your head is underwater, and everything is muffled and distorted and you can kind of hear and kind of see but everything is a blur?
That's how I feel as I slowly regain consciousness.
I am aware people are talking, a man and a woman? Their voices fade in and out, but I can't make out what they are saying.
Sometimes I see blurs that look like human figures peering over me, but then they're gone, and I don't know if it's the shadows of the light or if I'm hallucinating.
I don't know where I am or who I am for a very long time, and I'm confused, just so confused as to what's going on.
When things are slightly less muffled and it's not like my head is dunked in a pool, things aren't any better. My vision dips and the world spins like I'm on a loopy roller-coaster ride, like my entire body is being dropped and flung through the air, and the noise, don't get me started on the noise.
Why is everything so loud? I can hear cawing, and what sounds like yelling, and it hurts, it hurts, but when I go to cover my ears, I can't, I can't move my arms.
When I try to draw in a deep breath to calm myself down, a strong, pungent odour invades my senses.
What the fuck is that smell?
It smells like...like...like death? That's the only thing I can think of. I gag and keep breathing in as if trying to get fresh air, but there's none, no fresh air.
I blink erratically because my vision is still blurry and I'm trying to clear it because I need to be able to see what's going on here.
When things start clearing, I'm aware I'm looking at a wooden ceiling with several beams and eyes...hundreds of beady little eyes looking at me.
I shriek.
Every beam has crows lining on it, staring at down at me, flapping their big wings and making that horrible cawing noise.
I try to move my arms and legs, but I can't because they're chained to a bed that creaks every time I move my body.
Where even am I?
I can't get around the chains or shackles on my wrists and ankles, but I lift my head and glance around the room.
I'm in what looks like a wooden cylinder room, there are blankets and pillows on the floor covered in crow shit, and I start panicking when I notice it on the bed I'm lying on, but that's not the worst part, no, the worst part is the dead animals on the floor.
So many dead animals, lambs with limbs missing, deer with decapitated heads, and rats, so many dead rats, their bodies half-eaten.
There's heaps of bones too, and several crows are picking at the carcasses. If I wasn't already a vegetarian, I'd never eat meat ever again after seeing this.
"Oh my God." Slips past my lips and then a figure enters into my line of sight, holding something in his hands and I go quiet.
I thought I would scream when I saw him again, but I don't, I'm too scared. It feels like there's a scream gathering in my throat, but not another word or sound escapes.
