"Sure you're not coming in?" Nicks asks.
He's looking at Malice with his lips curled distastefully.

"Nah."

I have to go someplace important.

"It's gonna be so boring without you." He sighs.

"I'll see you later," I say, hoping takes the hint and gets the fuck out of my car any second now.

I agreed to drop him off for his shift, but I wasn't expecting him to try and guilt me into staying when I didn't even have to work today.

"You wanna know something, big guy?" He asks.

No.

"What?"

"I'm glad you're not not Joey." He says, laughing nervously.

"Alright."

"Seriously, if I had poisoned Lana the same way I poisoned Bree...well, Joey would have already exterminated me by now!"

He's not lying there.

"Get out of my car before I exterminate you." I snap and he laughs.

"Okay, okay, I'll see you soon!"

Nicks is too cheerful at the moment, it's stressing me out. I need to clear my head by talking to my mom.

The whole Bree thing stressed me out too much, I thought she was going to die. I can't—she can't die.

I'm stressed that she's going out tonight, but I couldn't say anything. It's not like we're together or anything—even though my attachment to her is starting to grow into the unhealthy range.

I speed off, narrowly avoiding hitting a painted blue deer that's stumbling around in the road.

If I was with Bree I'd probably pull over and help it, but I'm not with her so I don't have to be nice.

I get halfway to the graveyard before I have to turn around. I keep thinking about that stupid deer, and his stupid confused face as he was stumbling around.

But when I drive back, he's gone.

I still get out of the car anyway and look around, Bree would have probably wanted me to do something like that.

I can't find it.

It's like it's vanished.

You're fucking kidding me.

This is what I get for trying to be nice, it was a waste of fucking time.

"Hey, Hades!" A girl yells from the window of a car, the car tyres squeaking as the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop.

Did I hear that correctly?

A girl with pale blonde hair is staring at me, waving madly.

Am I supposed to know who that is?

"It's me, Daisy!" She grins.

Who?

"Your mom was friends with my mom years ago!" Her face closes. "I'm so sorry to hear about...you know."

"It was a long time ago," I mutter.

Now I remember who she is. My mom used to stay up with her mother when my dad was out, they'd talk a lot. I was forced to hang out with Daisy.

She's stopped in the middle of the road and, stopping the traffic, causing cars to steadily build up behind her. They honk their horns madly and she pulls over and gets out, only after rolling her eyes.
