Sweetness is an extremely fancy club.

There's a long line of well-dressed people waiting to get in—something I never thought I would see in Winterville.

"Told you here was nice!" Lana grins.

She strides ahead of Coco and me and we're let through a velvet rope without a second thought.

It feels like a scene in a movie or something.

"Thanks, Chuck!" Lana winks at the big security guard and he blushes.

"Anytime Lana, and Lana's friends." He adds, glancing between Coco and me.

"We got ahead of all those people," I say incredulously and Coco laughs.

"Of course we did, we're with Lana." She leans in close as the music gets louder with every step we take inside the blue-lit building.

"If you want a peaceful life, don't piss her off," Coco says.

Huh?

What is it about Lana that makes everyone worry about how she's feeling?

I'm about to ask her when Lana stops abruptly and lets out a high-pitched shriek.

"He's here!" She and Coco dissolve into laughter.

"Who?" I ask.

"That super sexy bartender." Coco points at a man with long hair and a mustache.

"The mustache guy?" I wrinkle my nose.

"He's a very sweet talker." Coco giggles a little.

"He's not my type, especially because I have Joey," Lana clarifies. "But he is funny."

"What do you think?" Coco nudges me and my cheeks flush.

"I don't know," I mumble and she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.

"Stop." I hiss and she smirks.

"Hey, Jamie!" Lana says and he looks up and waves madly.

"Hey, lovely ladies!" He says as we slide into stools at the bar top.

I look around the club, everyone is calm.

And there's no sign of Rowan.

Yet.

Everyone is talking, laughing, and smiling with small groups of people.

I think about Malice, where Hades works, and can't help but remember the news headlines.

I feel like this club is miles away from there.

"Where is dear Savannah?" Jamie asks.

I'm assuming that's the girl Lana bought a pink dress for, but she couldn't come.

"She's sick," Lana says.

"That's no good," he looks at me. "Now, who are you? I certainly would remember if I had seen you before."

"Bree," I say quietly.

"Nice to meet you Bree, I'm Jamie." He holds out his hand and I take it. He places his other one on top and smiles.

"I'll make sure your night is incredible."

He spins around to get a few cocktail menus.

Lana and Coco look at me like I've won the lottery and I discretely shake my head at them.

"Do you have something in mind, or do you want a surprise?" He hands them to us.

Coco and I say we want a surprise, Lana goes with water.
