Izzy was hard asleep that night back in Indiana. It was a regular evening at the Isbell household. Izzy's dad was always pretty strict with him, his mother agreed with his father and his discipline methods, but she was more compassionate. If his dad were a little tougher on him than necessary, usually his mom would be around later to tell him it's just because he loves you. And I guess he understood that, but his dad never really seemed to understand him.
His parents never really liked Axl. They thought he was a bad influence because seemingly the day Izzy became Izzy instead of Jeffrey, was around the same time Axl became a character in the Isbell history book. And yeah, Axl probably was a bad influence, but he was his friend whether they liked it or not.
So that's how he knew exactly what it was when he heard knocking against his window at 2:13 in the morning. Knock knock knocky-knock knock knock knoock.
Izzy sat up, and sure enough, out even in the darkness he could clearly see there the fucker was, standing right outside his window, crouched amongst the hedges, somebody he couldn't immediately recognize behind him. He opened the window, "2 am? Really? Seems a little early to be doing something illegal again."
The person behind him whispered, "Again?"
"Shh both of you..! Izz your parent's window is wide open, shut the fuck up..!" Izzy rolled his eyes, stepping aside so Axl could climb through the window. He scrambled inside then helped in the girl behind him.
She coughed as she came in, "Ukh, was there a skunk or something outside?" She wrinkled her nose. Izzy didn't say anything, he was smoking weed in here a little while ago. Amy was familiar with the burning smell of cigarettes, she however was not with the sickening reek of weed.
Izzy brushed past her question, "Axl why'd you bring a kid here?"
She furrowed her eyebrows at Izzy, "Kid? I am fourteen years old for your information," she snapped.
Axl laughed, "Izz this is Amy, my sister, Amy this is my friend Izzy."
"William you didn't tell me your friend was a delinquent."
"Delinquent!?" Izzy exclaimed in offense, "Your brother's the one who fucked me up for your information, he's the bad influence."
Axl rolled his eyes, "Please, we're both horrible people who have negative side effects on each other equally."
Amy scoffed but Izzy could tell she didn't really care, more so just entertained of the conversation. Izzy sighed, "Okay then, Axl why'd you bring a fourteen-year-old young lady here?"
Amy smiled with amusement, "I couldn't sleep, William suggested a midnight walk in the field and I thought it sounded lovely."
Axl nodded in agreement but his eyes showed a slightly grimmer meaning, "Yeah, I thought it was best to get off the old man's back for a while. A little space would be good, won't even notice we're gone."
Izzy nodded finally in understanding, "I see." It appeared as though Amy and Axl weren't exactly on the same page. Amy saw it as a harmless little stay here for a little while, Axl was here to hide.
Amy glanced around, "Where's the bathroom?"
"Uh, when you go out there," Izzy pointed towards the door, "It's the one right across the hallway."
She smiled, "Thanks," she nodded graciously and left the room quietly. She looked like she was trying to tiptoe, and she must've understood Axl's wariness of Izzy's parents window open must mean that her and her brother's presence at 2 am might not be very welcomed if they found her.
