Chapter 25

Lena's POV

I wake up to hear Mila crying. I roll away from my girlfriend's warm body and look at the clock and see it's only about 2 am. Kara is still asleep which I'm not sure how, considering that she has super-hearing.

I walk over to Mila to see her sat up, clutching her blanket. "Hey, what's wrong honey?" I say as I sit down.

From the moonlight, I can see her eyes are filled with tears when she looks at me. She immediately sits on my lap and hugs me. "I had a nightmare."

I knew we shouldn't have let a four year old watch a horror movie.

"What was it about? Do you want to talk about it?" I ask smoothing her hair down, trying to comfort her.

"I don't know there was my Mario Brother characters but they weren't themselves, they were scary..."

"Would it help if you slept between Aunt Kara and I?" I ask pulling away to see her nod her head. "Okay."

I gently pick her up in my arms and lay her down between Kara and I. There's not a lot of room because Kara and I have to touch each other in some way when we go to sleep. I get in and Mila cuddles up to my side. "I won't let anything hurt you, get some sleep, okay?"

I feel her nod and I wait so I know she's absolutely asleep then go back to sleep myself.

The next time I wake up, I can feel a little body clinging to my side. I open my eyes and glance towards Kara but she's not there. I carefully get up and walk to the kitchen to make coffee. I see coffee already made so I know Kara had a Supergirl duty to do as I don't see her anywhere. She doesn't even like coffee that much, yet she made sure that she made a pot for me, she's so cute.

I pour myself a cup and sit down at the island. I feel a gust of wind and I know Kara is back. I turn my head to see her in her super suit. "Good morning Supergirl." I say raising my coffee and wink.

She smiles as she's in front of me, "Good morning beautiful. How'd you sleep?" She asks kissing my forehead then sits across from me.

"I slept okay but Mila woke up around 2 because of a nightmare." I explain.

"That's not good." She says frowning then gets up so she's in front of me. "What about we go get breakfast?" She asks whispering as she leans into kiss me.

I nod and she go gets a shower. I finish my coffee then go get Mila up. "Good morning sleepy girl." I say as she stares right at me, hair a mess.

I'm guessing she's not really a morning person because she seems pretty grumpy. "Aunt Kara is in the shower. After we all get ready, we're going to get some breakfast, how's that sound?"

Mila nods her head and stretches. She looks so tiny in the bed, it's adorable. I help Mila get dressed then brush her knots out. When Kara gets out of the shower, she quickly gets dressed and watches Mila as I get a shower and get ready.

When I get out of the shower, I wrap myself in a towel and open the door to reveal Kara sitting on the edge of the bed. "Does Mila seem quieter than usual?" She immediately asks.

I close the curtains as I'm still in a towel and turn to Kara, "Yeah, I thought she just wasn't a morning person."

Kara hands me clothes to wear and I start getting dressed. "I don't really know what's bothering her." Kara says genuinely concerned.

After I'm fully clothed I stand in front of Kara. "We can try to talk to her over breakfast." I say trying to ease her nerves. I give her a kiss, hoping it helps. She nods and we both get our makeup on and I let my hair air dry.

We head out to Kara's car and she buckles Mila in her car seat we have for her.

Mila is quiet the whole drive which is unusual because she's usually babbling and singing along to the radio.

Once we get to a cute little diner and set down, Kara can't take the tension anymore and asks Mila what's wrong. Mila glances at me but says nothing.

"Honey, we want to help you feel better. We know something is bothering you." Kara says softly.

Mila looks at me again and then looks at Kara. "I have a secret." She whispers.

"Is it a bad secret?" Kara asks as the waitress brings out our drinks. We order pancakes and a couple other breakfast items and then our attention goes back to Mila.

She tells us yes. "Do you think you can tell me the secret?" Kara asks her.

Mila looks at me and frowns but leans into whisper in Kara's ear. Kara's mouth drops open and she looks at me. "Why do you think that Mila?" She asks not looking away from my eyes.

"Because I saw it with my own eyes...this morning A-Aunt Lena and Supergirl kissed. She's a cheater!" Mila says out in frustration. Kara's eyes turn soft again. I never realized how hurt she just looked for a second. I never want a thought like that to cross her mind again.

I can't help but let out a smile as I stare into Kara's eyes. Our niece thinks I'm cheating on Kara with herself.

"Why are you laughing?" Mila asks us both.

"Honey, we'll explain when we get back." Kara says giving me a look she's going to tell her.

We get our food and eat with an awkward silence over us.

When we get back to our apartment Kara motions for me to watch Mila while she goes to her room. When she comes out she's wearing her super suit. Mila's eyes go directly towards her and her face is covered in shock. "H-How?"

Kara goes to Mila and crouches down in front of her on the couch. "I'm your Aunt Kara, but I'm also Supergirl. No one knows that I'm Supergirl, do you understand what I'm saying?"

Mila nods, "Y-You have a secret identity."

Kara smiles, nodding. "I like to keep it a secret because I don't want the people I love to be in danger because of me. I hate keeping secrets though. I want you to know the truth about me." Kara says smiling.

"So Aunt Lena didn't cheat." Mila says confirming her thoughts. She looks up at me and gives me a hug. "I'm sorry."

I kiss her head, "it's okay, I give you permission to hit me as many times as you want if you were to ever catch me cheating on your Aunt Kara which you won't."

For the rest of the day, we chill around and play games with Mila until Alex and Maggie come to get her.

"Can we talk?" Kara asks as we're laying on separate ends of the couch.

I really hope she's not about to say what I think she's about to say. Every person that starts off a conversation with "Can we talk?" is going to break up with someone...
