Chapter 30: Black and White

Sebastian and I looked for Ominis nearly everywhere but were not able to find him. No notes, no word of where he might be, I'd broken into tears many times and my face felt puffy and gross.

"O, I want to keep looking but my last mock exam is tomorrow, I need to sleep or I'm going to fall asleep at my desk while trying to complete it." Sebastian looked so exhausted, it broke my heart.

I let out a sigh, "I know, I know. I also need to study for the last two mock exams that Ominis and I have. I'm sure he'll show up, he has to... Right?"

Sebastian nodded and gave my hand a squeeze. "He will, even if he's angry with us, it's not like Ominis to just disappear without saying anything. Maybe he went out of the castle, or maybe even made his own room of requirement, although, I still have no idea how you made it into mine."

"Me either... Maybe your room thought you needed me." That made us smile.

"Hmmm... That honestly makes sense. I did need you, but... I also needed Ominis." Sebastian's eyes grew sad.

I cupped my hand to his cheek, "We'll find him, we'll work this out. Go get some sleep ok?"

"Ok." Sebastian pulled me into a tight bear hug and gave me a quick kiss. "Thank you Ophelia, I... I don't know what I would do without you." He buried his face in my hair and held me tightly.

"I feel the same way Sebastian. I love you, always."

"I love you too." Sebastian smiled and gave me a kiss on the top of my head before heading to his dorm.

I fell on my bed like a block of lead. If I wasn't stressing wondering where Ominis was I would've surely fallen asleep.

I started dozing off around 1:00AM when I heard steps climbing up the stairs. I immediately jumped out of bed and ran out of my room. "Ominis? Where have you been? Are you ok?"

Ominis stopped right in front of his door and answered without turning towards me, "I'm ok, sorry for worrying you. I hope you haven't been up waiting for me." He started to walk into his bedroom and I stepped closer.

"Ominis, I... Well, I guess you should get some rest, but... We should talk." I walked over to him, as I got closer I realized that his eyes were red and puffy, had he also been crying? I wanted to give him space but I couldn't help myself. I wrapped my arms around his ribcage and pulled him close. "Omi, I love you. Please..." I felt tears running down my eyes, I wanted so badly to just be strong but my knees shook as soon as I noticed the state he was in.

Ominis wrapped his arms around me and placed a kiss atop my head, he stayed there smelling my hair. "How's Sebastian?"

I felt a bit guilty at his question but, it wasn't a secret that I'd gone out looking for him after the argument with Ominis. I was sure he could smell Sebastian on me and that's why he'd asked. "He's... Ok... Well, perhaps slightly worse than you and I."

Ominis nodded his head, still holding on to me. "I can smell the alcohol."

"Yeah... when I found him he was plastered, but he was a bit more sober after we looked all over for you. I sent him off to bed, he has his last mock exam tomorrow." Ominis held me tighter.

"Ophelia... I... I didn't mean what I said. I..." He let out a long shaky breath. "I was so scared, after what happened two years ago... When Sebastian's cursed you... all I could think about was the scriptorium and... Solomon. I don't want him to go down that path again. I don't want you to get hurt."
