Friendly opened her eyes and saw Jack and North staring down at her with very worried expressions on their faces. She groaned and put her hand to her chest. The pain there was gone but she was left with a horrible headache. Jack carefully sat her up.
"Ugh...what happened...?" She asks, tiredly.
"We turned around and saw that you'd collapsed. Are you alright?" Jack asks, supporting her back.
Friendly puts her hand to her head. "I thought I heard..." She suddenly gasped. In the corner of her eye she could have sworn there was a man in a black robe standing in the doorway. The guardians followed her gaze but nothing was there. Jack felt her forehead then jerked his hand back.
"You're burning up." He said, helping her to her feet. She took his hand and put it back to her forehead, sighing in relief.
"Let's get you back to the infirmary." Says North, leading the way while Jack helped Friendly limp down the hallway.
Jack helped Friendly sit on the edge of the white bed while North handed her a damp rag for her forehead. She held it in place while Jack attempted to cool her neck.
"Maybe you should lay down." He said.
Friendly shook her head. "No, I'm fine." She replied, tiredly. Jack tilted his head. She didn't look fine. North soon began to carefully cut away the bandage on her arm. Once it was off she begun to scratch the red area left behind.
"No, no, you might open wound again!" North stopped her. The large gash in her arm was almost gone. All that was there now was a long, thin scratch if it weren't for the stitches. North began to carefully cut those away too.
Light gently nudged her right shoulder. It was pretty much back to its original size now. Friendly smiled and leaned her head on it's muzzle. Light reminded her that she didn't need to be afraid. Once she was healed, she wouldn't need protecting. But what did Pitch mean when he said he'd be ready? Ready for what? Whatever it was she mustn't be afraid. If she screamed in terror, she would be giving Pitch exactly what he wanted. And then what? What did Pitch want her fear for?
"Friendly? Hellooo? Friendly!" Friendly's eyes shot open as Jack's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. Jack sighed. "I thought you passed out or something." He smiled.
Friendly chuckled. "Quit worrying, will ya? You're getting paranoid." She tapped his nose.
"All done." North said, as he removed the last of the stitching on her arm. "Now for leg." Friendly sat further on the bed so her leg was elevated. North cut off the bandage and began to snip away the stitching. This cut was a little deeper than the one on her arm since she stabbed the dagger in her leg up to the hilt.
She winced when felt a sting of pain in her leg at the memory. She sighed as her eyelids became heavy. She leaned on Light's soft, glowing fur and closed her eyes. Pitch's words were burning a hole in her head. She didn't understand what was going on. Did she dream it or was it really him? When North finished removing her stitches he was about to ask her how her ribs were doing but he noticed that she had fallen asleep.
