The guardians rushed to North's sleigh with worried expressions on their faces. Jack leaped in before any of the others.
"Jack, wait, we should think this through!" North protests.
"I'm not taking any chances!" Jack snaps. "I'm not losing her again." He looks at them with pleading eyes and they knew that Jack wasn't going to change his mind.
"Very well, everyone into the sleigh!" Says North, hopping in himself.
Jack smiles at them, gratefully. Bunnymund sits beside Jack and looks at him sadly. "Listen, Jack. The Sheila's upset with us, she's sayin' that she's only one of us 'cuz Manny chose her to be a guardian. I think we need a good talk with her when we get her back." He says.
Jack grimaces and looks at Bunnymund sadly before nodding. He couldn't blame her to be honest. At times, he felt the same way. The guardians cast him off as a nuisance before he was chosen to be a guardian. They were never there for him for those three hundred years of his existence. Bunnymund saw that Jack also felt aggravated by this and decided that they needed a talk with him later too.
Soon, the sleigh took off into the ice caves and out into the air. North whispered into a snow globe before tossing it into the air. A portal appeared in its place leading to Burgess. The sleigh spun through it and flew out of another portal that disappeared after they spun through it.
The sleigh almost crashed with the hurry the guardians were in. It landed in Burgess, not far from Jack's pond. Jack leaped out and lead the guardians through the forest, as fast as he could, to Pitch's lair. That was the first place they would search. They had no idea where Pitch had sent Friendly but his lair was the first place that came into their head.
When they came up to the hole in the ground, Jack instantly darted down into it. The other guardians shouted protests as they chased after him. Once they landed they rushed after him into the large cave that was Pitch's lair.
"Jack, you shouldn't run ahead like that, we have trouble keeping up." North panted.
Jack just shrugged, not looking at him. His eyes scanned the lair. Tooth hovered behind him and put her hand on his shoulder. "I don't think anyone's here." She said.
Jack shook his head. "No, they're here. I know they are."
"Maybe we should look around, just to be sure." Said Bunnymund. The guardians nodded in agreement and separated in search of Pitch, Friendly and Light. Jack leaped from platform to platform, his staff tightly in his grip. With his eyes narrowed, he peered into the shadows, searching for the King of nightmares. They all suddenly heard a chuckle and the guardians huddled in one spot. Jack pointed his staff at the shadows in attempt to find the one Pitch was hiding in.
"Show yourself!" He yells.
The sound of Pitch's laughing echoing on the walls sent chills down their spines. "My, my. That was fast." He said, appearing from one of his shadows.
Jack glared at him. "Where is she!?" He snapped.
Pitch shrugged. "I don't know. Probably in the deepest, darkest corner of her mind." He chuckles.
"We're warning you, Pitch! Where is, Friendly!?" Tooth yells.
Pitch just grins at the Tooth fairy, chuckling deviously again. Jack had had enough. He darted up towards Pitch, giving a frustrated yell. Pitch just smirks at the winter spirit. Jack swings his staff but it suddenly clashes with a black blade. Jack glares at the barer but then his eyes widen, suddenly brimming with tears. It was one of Pitch's fearlings but it was different. It was made out of black sand and had golden eyes that were glaring down at him, but it was in the form of a girl. A very familiar girl. Her hair, her dress and even her skin was made out of black sand. The guardians gasped as their hearts sank.
It was Friendly.
Jack stared into her glowing, golden eyes. She suddenly pushes his staff to the side and kicks him, hard. He fell back down to the guardians, crashing on the hard floor, clutching his stomach. Tooth quickly grabbed his staff before anything else could and handed it back to him. He grunted as he struggled to his feet.
Friendly floated up to Pitch's side, her golden eyes glaring at the guardians. Pitch strokes her black, sandy hair and chuckles. This makes Jack feel sick. "What do you think of my new creation, guardians?" He grins. "Took a while for the sand to take effect, but look at her now. Beautiful, isn't she?"
The guardians stare at Friendly's unblinking, golden eyes. "You...you MONSTER!" Bunnymund screams, reaching for his boomerangs.
Friendly tossed the black blade which spun towards the guardians. Around halfway it transformed into a giant, black wolf made out of sand. It stood in front of the guardians and growled, warningly, at Bunnymund. Jack stares at it sadly, a tear escaping his eye. "Light..." He whispered.
Pitch chuckled, evilly. "Two for one! Wonderful, isn't it? All I had to do was turn Ghost here into a fearling and the same happened to the wolf. They are my greatest creations. Though I'm not too sure about the name...'The Friendly Ghost'. Ugh. Too...kind. How about...'Nightmare'?"
Jack gritted his teeth together. How dare he call Friendly a nightmare. Pitch grins at Jack's expression. "I like it." He says. Then he glares at the guardians. "Nightmare, I have a request for you."
"Whatever you wish, master." Says Nightmare. Her voice wasn't right. It was more like a screech instead of her usual melodic voice. Jack's knuckles turned white when she called him 'master'.
Pitch grinned as he said his request, softly. "Capture the guardians."
The guardians gasped as Nightmare immediately charged at them. Light had already begun to chase Tooth around the lair. Nightmare went for Jack who got up and darted out of the way. Jack had no idea that Nightmare still had her ghost powers. She phased through a wall and popped up in front of Jack, startling him. Bunnymund tossed a boomerang at her but she phased through it and grabbed Jack by the neck. Pitch created a small cage with black sand and Nightmare thrust Jack into it before going after Bunnymund. Light had caught Tooth by the wings and had tossed her in with Jack.
Soon, all the guardians were in the cage and Nightmare and Light returned to Pitch's side. Pitch clapped his hands, twice. "Well done, Nightmare. Well done."
Nightmare didn't answer, she just floated on the spot, waiting for Pitch's next order. Inside Nightmare, Friendly could see the events occurring. She had no control over her body and couldn't say anything. It was the same with Light. Pitch didn't have full control over them yet but no matter how hard they tried they couldn't gain any control. Pitch grinned at Nightmare.
"Now, I have another request for you, Nightmare." He said.
The guardians stared at Pitch, dreading his next order. Pitch smiled at Jack before turning back to Nightmare.
"Kill Jack Frost."
