The guardians began shouting protests as Nightmare slowly floated towards the cage, Light transforming into the black blade again and returning to her grip.
"No, Friendly, no!" Tooth screamed.
"Don't do it, Ghosty, try to control yourself!" Bunnymund urged.
"Friendly, stop!" North bellowed.
Sandman waved his arms and vigorously shook his head.
Jack just stared at her as she inched closer and closer to the cage, his eyes growing wider and wider. Pitch could feel the fear in the room gradually rising. He loved it. He loved it so much he began to laugh. When Nightmare reached the cage, she reached through it and yanked Jack out. He skid across the floor and Nightmare tosses him his staff. She spun the black blade and glared at Jack's confused eyes.
"Get up and fight." She said.
Jack grimaced, holding back tears as he struggled to his feet. Nightmare waited patiently as Jack slowly pointed his staff at her. He gripped onto it tightly but then sighed and pointed it to the floor. He couldn't do it.
"I said fight!" Nightmare spat. Jack jumped at her outburst and returned to his stance, sadness in his eyes. Jack wanted anything but this. Friendly was a fearling and Pitch was going to make her kill him and the guardians one by one.
Nightmare charged at him and he dodged the sharp blade as it spun past him it regained it's place in Nightmares grip. Jack darted into the air, shooting frost at her. She used the blade to slice through it before tossing it at him again. Jack dodged it and tried his best to just get away from her. He knew he wasn't going to survive. The only way he could was to kill Friendly like any other fearling. But he couldn't. There was no way he could do that. He never even got to tell her how he felt. Well, better late than never.
"Okay, I know you probably can't hear me." He begun as he dodged the black blade again. "But, Friendly...you are the most amazing girl I've ever met."
Nightmare yelled as she tossed the blade. Jack dodged it but got nicked on the arm. He hissed at the pain but continued. "The first day I met you, I thought you were some scared little girl trapped in a hole. But as I got to know you, you became the bestest friend I ever had. I don't know what made you put your trust in me, but you did. I'm sorry for what has happened to you and I wish I could set it right!"
Nightmare kicks his jaw and he grunts, falling on his back. Nightmare's burning eyes pierced his ice blue ones as she pointed the tip of the sword at him. Jack panted from exhaustion. "The truth is...I love you, Friendly." He stared at her, sadly, the blade pointed at his neck.
Nightmare seemed slightly affected. Her eyes widened slightly and she took a step back but she shook her head and returned to her usual glare. Pitch raised a brow and decided to use this to his advantage. Nightmare lowered the blade and took a step closer. "You think I would ever love you back?" She said with her hoarse voice. "You're nothing but a skinny little brat who makes a mess everywhere you go. You failed to keep me safe. You're useless. A useless waste of space."
Jack was incredibly hurt by these words, his eyes filling with hurt and shock. Friendly tried to scream but she couldn't gain any control over her body. Of course she never meant that. She was trying her best to tell him that Pitch was saying that but she remained unlucky. At one point, Jack saw her eyes flash violet. He thought for a second before slowly struggling up to his feet. "Friendly...I know you're in there." He said.
Friendly tried to say 'Yes! I'm here!' but nothing came out. Jack smiled at her. "Do what you do best. Sing!"
Nightmare suddenly growled and lunged forward but missed Jack by half an inch. Jack didn't give up. "T-that song you always sing at night, is that your favourite song?" He asks. Nightmare just continued to slash at him, hitting him twice. Once on his leg and once on his torso. They weren't deep though so he was lucky. "Come on, sing it." Jack growled mentally, regretting he would ever do this. Then he begun to softly sing Friendly's song.
