In front of me stood the ever-smirking Jace. His stupidly perfect blonde hair and annoyingly beautiful golden eyes were hard to mistake.
"You see Clary, I knew you were seeing them. I don't know how you got here, but I know you have been relaying information to them"
"Jonathan Christopher. I want you to use your brain instead of jumping to conclusions. Just this one time" his eyes lit with anger before the telltale smirk descended into his face yet again.
"I have. You disappear, you have strange runes and there is something off about you in general."
"I'm a Morgenstern Jace, of course there is. But don't you think that if we wanted information about the institute, we would already have it? So if I was not seeing them to relay information, why would I visit them? I could leave the institute whenever I wanted to and not come back. I have only visited them once the entire time, this being the second. I swear on the angel"
His eyes widen in confusion and shock, "then why are you here this time? This counters your entire argument."
"Because there is something wrong with me, and I intend to find out what. Now, I will not ask you again, where is my father Jace?"
"He won't be helping you for some time I'm afraid"
"You haven't killed him. Don't even try to trick me with your little games. I know how you work Jace, and it won't work on me."
"I don't know where your father is. I came here and he was nowhere to be found. What is wrong with you?"
"How did you know to come here in the first place? And I don't know! That's why I need to find my father."
"It doesn't matter how I knew to come here. Now describe it."
"It doesn't concern you Jace. What about my brother? Sebastian"
"That scum? He wasn't here either" i clenched my fists and ground my teeth, he has no right to insult my brother like that.
In a split second, Jace was on the floor, a dagger was pressed against his throat. I was hovered over him, pinning his arms above his head with my left forearm and my legs pinning down his.
"Now you listen close. You never insult my brother or my father in font of me. I promise you will regret it. Now, you tell me where my father and brother are, or I will be obliged to press this little knife down a little harder." I say, tipping my head to the side and smiling maliciously.
"I don't know where they are, they left hints as where they were going though. There may be a note in your room aswell." He still had his annoying smirk even at knife point,
"Wonderful, well then, I'll be off. As will you, goodbye for now Jace. I may be seeing you for dinner. If not, don't worry too much"

"Aren't you going to ask how I got here O mighty Clarissa Morgenstern?"

"To be completely honest with you Jace, I don't care" I felt a burning at the back of mind and a tingle in my arm that as holding my weapon. Some kind of malicious part of me wanted to kill Jace, and it was slowly becoming bigger.

"Jace, however you got here, I need you to leave. Around about now would be wonderful. If I explain why I am afraid there wont be enough time for you to actually get away quick enough for I will surely kill you. Now walk away, do it carefully but as quickly as you can." he was looking at me like I had 2 heads but I saw his foot slowly rise and land a short distance from where it once was.

"You're going to have to go faster than that my friend, the urge is getting stronger" my voice was getting deeper and more other-worldly. What is going on. I felt a foggy darkness start to appear around the edges of my vision.

"What's going on Clary?"

"JACE! Run you idiot! GO! And don't look back!" my voice speedily grew more gravelly as my head tilted back and I took a large breath in through my nose, I swear I just made it worse. The sound of blood pumping through veins and the smell of fear was like an addictive drug and as I opened my eyes to Jace quickly backing up I scowled.

"I've fought demons before Clary! I can kill them!"

"That may be right Jonathan Herondale, but can you kill me?! I am Clarissa Morgenstern! my blood is tainted with that of an angel and a demon. The perfect weapon. I was trained by the best for my entire life and there is no man or woman on earth that can defeat me! Now tell me Jace, can you defeat me? do you have the courage to drive that sword through me and watch the life of Clary drain from my eyes?" he stood still now, stupid boy. He didn't answer.

"RUN JACE!" I hear my own voice call out before the darkness pushing against my head breaks through and I am no longer in control.

Jace's POV

'RUN JACE!' I hear the sweet voice I had become accustomed to come out of the mouth of the figure in front of me. This time I listened to her warning. Going against what I had always been trained to do, but she was right. Any other demon I could kill without batting an eyelid. But Clary was no demon, I don't even know what she is anymore. All I know is that I don't think I would be able to kill her. Clary was still in there, I didn't have enough courage to do such a thing.

I was just watching in horror as the Clary I knew slowly lost control. I don't know how or why it happened but it did. I watched as her strange eyes started to get darker. The green in her eyes that made her human was the first to go, leaving the gold in her eyes to fight against the ever growing darkness. I was so mesmerised by the feat that I realised that this was a demon taking over her body, and no matter how many demons I could have killed in the past, nothing could have prepared me for this. And so I ran.

I ran like a coward but I couldn't do anything else. I heard a loud roar rip from the chest of the abomination behind me and it honestly made my heart beat faster and fear grow in my chest. Although I would never admit it to anyone, especially Clary, I was scared. What if Clary never got hold of her body again? I needed to find her brother and father.

I really didn't want to have to have a little one on one with the infamous Valentine Morgenstern and his monster of a son, I had a gut feeling they were the only ones who knew how to help Clary. This was their house, shouldn't they be home soon. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they stayed away from home for weeks at a time, terrorising cities and making evil plans to take over the world. Starting to think, I wouldn't doubt most of those plans would probably include Clary.

I ran through the corridors and rooms of the incredibly spacious house until I made it to the strange shimmering wall that I figured was the 'front door'. My only advice was to next time, lock the door when they go out. I jumped through the shimmering wall, side first and slightly curled, my blade still clutched in my hand.

Stumbling out into the unfamiliar land beyond the house, I found my footing and held my hand up to my eyes. blocking the sun, I could now see that the house was in a roughly uninhabited landscape, just like where it was before. Her father and brother shouldn't be too far away right? I heard another muffled roar and decided to somehow find her brother and father.

Surprisingly, it was easier than I thought. I heard a familiar whoosh sound and whipped around. I saw a man with pale hair and malicious facial features step through the surface. He had a straight posture that radiated power and demanded respect. Behind him was a younger blonde boy. Pitch black eyes similar to Clary's bore into mine and I felt a treacherous shudder go up my spine.

"Jonathan Herondale, I wasn't expecting you" A deep voice resonated around the hilly landscape. it had obviously come from the mouth of the first man. I ground my teeth at the thought of what I was about to do but took a deep breath and stared the man in the eye, I saw anger in his eyes. it was soon replaced by shock as I said "Clary is inside and she needs your help. Well, what's left of her anyway."

Both Sebastian and Valentine's eyes widened and eyebrows shot up, it struck me that this family was not accustomed to finding something they didn't know about or wasn't in the plan. I also thought that it was a little too easy for me to actually find the Morgenstern's house and themselves. But when I turned back around to face the house I realised it wasn't there, I made a small exclamation of surprise before turning back to the two men, making my eyes widen in shock and made me spin in circles looking like an idiot but I didn't care too much because there was nobody to see it. And that's brings us to the matter at hand, there was nobody to see me, because they too, had disappeared.
