My stomach now felt full as I had eaten. It was kinda creepy, Jace was studying me the entire time.
I hadn't seen anyone else yet, but I knew they were here. My training allowed me to identify the heavier footfalls of Alec and the quick ones of Isabel.
"What was so special about that Stele Clary?"
I turned to look at him with a blank expression on my face. "As I said, it has sentimental value, it is just like any other ones, perhaps made with slightly more rare materials, but that is the extent of it."
He looks at me, studying me before he nods. "Why did you stay with Valentine and Sebastian after he experimented on you and your brother is evil." He asked.
I whipped around and had a dagger at his throat before he could say anything else, I glared at him. "Because he taught me to do that. You may be good Jace, but your are not the best, that's either me or my brother. Although we overpasses father, we still respect him. My mother was a coward, I am not. He raised me, of course I will stay with him. But he doesn't love us, we are his experiments. So Jonathan and I, we stuck together. We only ever trusted one other person, and you are going to help me find him." He looked tame suspiciously.
"So you want me to find someone that could help you find your father and Sebastian or help them find you, I do not trust you just yet."
I just laughed, "you really think if I wanted to, I couldn't just go to them? You are more stupid than I thought. And besides, I want to find him because he is the only friend I have apart from my brother. Of course I want to find him. You are going to help me because you had him last." He looked confused at that.
"Then why haven't you gone back to your father then. And how could we have had him? We haven't had another shadowhunter here in years apart from your mother"
"I can't remember saying he was a shadowhunter" I say slowly, purposely avoiding the first question.
"Now do you know where Simon is or not!?"
He looked shocked, "Simon! He knew you! You befriended a vampire? Out of everyone" i remained calm.
"Yes, now if you don't know where he is there is really no point in me staying here." I smirked inwardly at how easily I could rile him up. He thought he was good, well I was better.
"No! He came with us through to Alicante, he is there somewhere, we couldn't find him afterwards. When we got there he was taken"
"How did I not know this, I must go back and find him." Jace just cleared his throat.
"You think the daughter of Valentine Morgenstern can just waltz into Alicante, take a prisoner and leave without being noticed"
"I've done it before, many times actually. Heck we used to live there and nobody noticed! Besides, I have a plan B if I get found out" I said, "now are you going to help me get Simon back or am I going on my own?"
"I'll come, but only if you give us a chance to be your friends and allow us to be able to trust you and you trust us." I thought over this, I don't think I could trust them, but is could let them be able to trust me, I won't kill them. I'm here so I can watch over Jace so he isn't killed, I won't give them another reason to hate me, I'm supposed to be gaining there trust.
"I've never had a proper friend before. Besides Simon of course." I concluded with a genuine smile. "I can try as hard as I can, and if it helps, I'm not going to kill you. If anything, I'm here to protect you." Jace smiled at me as Isabel and Alec walked in. "As long as you don't kill us, we will help you get Simon back, besides, I miss the dork." Isabel says.
"Wonderful, get your things, we leave as soon as you are ready"
"I'll call Magnus, we need a portal" Alec exclaimed and Izzy said, "I'll call Alicante for permission" were they crazy, I am Clarissa Morgenstern, I don't need permission to do anything!
"Woah woah back up, slow down, nobody move an inch. Nobody is calling anyone, nobody is asking permission for anything, nobody is getting overly-expensive warlocks to do party tricks, even if you do get some kind of discount." I say the last bit deliberately while looking at Alec. He blushed and looked away, yeh that's right, he blushed! Real manly of you Alec, wow.
"Well how do you propose we get there then?" Jace says with a bit to much sass for my liking.
"Have a little faith Jacey, it's all sorted. Now go get ready, we meet here ASAP." I say and they all scatter and I head to my room, take a shower and then strap all my weapons to my belt. I leave my jacket off because I still need to draw my runes. I may need some help because usually Jonathan, or Sebastian I guess we're calling him now, usually helps me.
I head downstairs and start drawing my runes on my arms. I draw some of the normal ones like strength and agility and everything but add my own little flare to them. I make them stronger, or last longer. As I'm having fun painting my arm, biting my lip in concentration, I don't really notice Isabel watching me from the doorway.
"What are you doing? That could kill you" I just smirk at her.
"Everyone has their secrets Isabel, mine may be a bit more...advanced? Than some others" I said looking up at her. "Don't tell anyone, but I can create new runes. It's because of how my father tested on us, I have more angel blood in me than most, it has it's advantages. Anything you have been wanting for a while that a rune just can't give you?" Her eyes lit up with ideas.
"Before you get ahead of yourself, this is just between us yeh? Until I need to tell anyone else" she nodded. I felt a strange feeling, I had never had a friend that was a girl before. Hell, I think it's safe to say I'd never had friends before Simon was more family than friend.
"Can you make things burn by like, the click of your fingers or something?" I smirked and bit the corner of my lip. I looked around to make sure no one was there before I nodded towards the direction of the door to go around the corner of the institute.
I drew the rune on my hand, I had already thought of this one of course. I had all of the elements, the fire element looked like and intricate version of a single tongue of flame.
We hadn't anything but Isabel looked like she was about to burst with curiosity and excitement as she studied the foreign rune.
I looked around and my eyes locked on a small bush. I did a flicking motion with my hand and a small ball of fire shot out and ignited the bush. Izzy gasped and clamped her hand over her mouth.
It was then that I heard a familiar voice, Jace. "Izzy? Clary?!" I clamped my hand shut and the fire extinguished, the bush totally unharmed by the flames.
Once Izzy saw the fire was out, she turned and raised her eyebrow at me, asking if it was ok I assume. I nodded back and she moved to stand on the front steps of the institute.
"Out here Jace!!" Izzy called as she composed herself before Jace and Alec came through the door, slightly frantic.
Before the boys got there, I quickly opened a portal and then followed Izzy around to the the front of the institute.
Jace and Alec were standing outside with Izzy, calming their frantic breathing.
"Are we all finally ready? And you say girls take ages to get ready" they nod,
"Cool, give me 2 seconds." I turn around and make a glamour, I made my hair slightly darker and fixed different features so I now looked just like my mother, I smiled. I gestured for the others to follow me as they looked shocked that they couldn't see through the glamour. They were even more shocked when they saw the portal that had miraculously appeared.
"Let's go save Simon then" I said happily before jumping through the portal before any questions were asked.
