Weeks had gone by and true to my promise I had avoided most contact with everyone in the club besides Jax, Mom, and Clay. It was driving Chibbs up the wall, but Jax made it very clear that my space was to be respected. Chibbs would bring me food while I was working for the first week but then finally stopped when I wouldn't budge on my Keeping my distance. I worked tirelessly trying to collect as much information as I could for Yelena and Jamie about what I had found and anything I could find about the people involved. No matter how much I tried though I couldn't pin the main location down. It seemed to move and we wouldn't see the evidence of it on satellite imaging some times until days later. Jamie and Yelena insisted on me continuing though and deep down I knew they were doing anything to make sure I didn't become the next target, knowing how much I needed to be with my family right now despite the distance I was keeping from the others. They knew I was safe there and right now I was still flying under the radar and they wanted to make sure it stayed that way. I slammed my fists down on my desk startling everyone in the garage and I growled at hitting yet another dead end. Everyone stared quietly as they continued to work and my Mom came down from the office. She sighed when she saw me looking defeated and walked over next to me placing a hand on my shoulder. I yanked away frustrated that we weren't getting any closer to our goal. She started to say something, but I ignored her and started making my way out of the garage to the bar. I ignored her as she called after me and walked through the door, slamming it behind me. Everyone now turned to look at me in the bar as I made my way to the prospect behind the bar. Before I even sat there was a glass of whiskey there ready for me. I sat and quickly drained the cup before signaling for a refill, which I then promptly drained again and signaled for more. Jax made his way over to me and sat next to me noticing my mood  very quickly. "I'm not in the mood for it Jax," for everyone outside of my immediate family that was the first time they had heard me speak in weeks. Just as Jax went to say something while the prospect refilled my glass, I quickly grabbed the bottle and stomped off to my dorm. I was tired of the lecture that I was working too much and needed to take a break. I had been hearing everyone that braved speaking to me tell me that all week as I had taken to falling asleep at my desk when exhaustion finally took over.

I sat on my bed cross legged and stared at my phone as I drained the bottle faster than my body could burn it off, then grabbed a flask from under my mattress and began sipping its contents. Finally when I was good and drunk, my fogged mind decided to call Jamie. I had no clue if he would even answer seeing as he rarely told me now when he was going on a mission. He claimed he had to be like that do to the missions he was doing. I looked at my clock and realized it was 3 am where he was, but before I could hang up I heard his voice through the speaker. "Y/N what is it? Everything ok?" he said in almost a panicked voice. My speech was slurred but as I smiled at how he cared about me I tried to speak, "Jaaaaaaiiimmeeeee, ya know I was hoping you answered, how ya doin bucket?" I could hear some rustling and a voice in the background and realized he must have been at Sarah's, "Oooops soooweeee," I said sloppily and i missed the sigh that came from Jaime as he realized what I had done. "You're lucky I'm close, I'm coming to get you," he said and I could hear him moving around as he grabbed his clothes and shoes before starting towards the door. In my drunkenness' I made it back out to the bar before grabbing another bottle of whiskey and sitting on the bar, ignoring the croweaters whose drinks I had spilled. Jax and my mom came moving towards me recognizing now would not be a good time for a croweater to push her luck. "Nooooo ya don' need to do dat,"I said quickly not sure I really wanted him to come out here. "Doll I'm coming so ya better put the bottle down and get off the bar," he said and it struck me how oddly specific he was with what he said. "Wait, how did you..." he cut me off before I could finish my sentence, "I know you too well doll, get down and sit in a chair and wait for me, you hear me?" I muttered a yes like a bratty teen in trouble and he quickly hung up. I gave the bottle back to the prospect, who almost looked relieved and went to find a seat in a secluded corner somewhere. I ignored my mom and Jax again as I walked away with a pouty look on my face. I sat down and pulled my legs to my chest, feeling my body actually begin to burn off the alcohol, luckily I hadn't gone too heavy on the flask so by the time Jamie walked in I was only feeling a fraction of what I felt before. He sighed as he saw me and stopped to talk to Jax and my mom, getting filled in on the past few weeks. He looked at me sadly as they spoke, knowing exactly what was going on for me. He nodded at them, then walked over to me and sat down next to me on the couch I had planted myself on. He was able to pull me to him without me flinching which shocked everyone as most of them couldn't go into a room I was in without announcing themselves. "Why can't they just go away for good?" I asked fighting the fear I felt bubbling just beneath the surface. Jamie held me tighter before kissing my forehead.

As we talked everyone watched how we interacted and looked at Chibbs, who looked angry and in pain before he stormed out of the bar. Clay followed him knowing no one had ever took a second to explain Jamie and I's dynamic and friendship to him. After some time I fell asleep peacefully on Jamie's lap. Mom walked over and led Jamie to where my room was and let him in as he carried me. when they both stepped in they noticed my bed was devoid of pillows and blankets. Jamie quickly spotted them over in the corner on the floor and sighed sadly. Mom looked stunned and realized I had been sleeping on the floor of my room this whole time. My mom left us as Jamie got me settled. Once he had me all tucked in he went to leave my room and just outside my door was Chibbs on his way to his room next door. Chibbs glared at Jamie on his way by, not believing what Clay had told him. Jamie reached out and grabbed him though, "Hey I don't know what you think is happening between her and I but I can promise you its not." His phone range and he huffed frustrated at the time before smiling "Hey baby," he said softly, "Yeah she's ok, she's sleeping now." He listened for a minute before confirming whatever was said. "Yeah I'll be a couple days, but I'll be back soon I promise," he said before saying his good byes. "Baby, huh?" Chibbs said questioningly. Jamie nodded and smiled. "Yeah, weirdly enough my annoying best friend's cousin. Weirdly if it hadn't been for Y/N I never would have had the courage to go for it, best choice I've ever made," he said staring past Chibbs as if recalling a memory. Chibbs nodded somehow believing that Jamie was telling the truth. Jamie heard my whimpering as Chibbs walked away and moved back into my room, by my side. He comforted me asleep and prevented the nightmare to take hold of me again. The rest of the night he slept with me, holding me the way a brother would hold their sister, protectively. When I woke the next day Jamie was already up and no longer on the floor with me. I got up and went to get in the shower, knowing he would be out in the bar waiting. I knew I was stuck with him for a couple days at least until he knew I was good again. I smiled to myself the way he was always there for me, like the big brother I grew up with, Jax. Eventually I made my way out to the bar and could see Jamie waiting at the bar, chatting with my mom. She said something and I saw him laugh for the first time in awhile. The last time I had seen him really smile was the day he met Sarah. As I got closer I could hear more of the conversation and could tell she was trying to give him motherly type advise that I heard her give to Jax once. I could tell by my mom she had in her mind adopted Jamie. I saw Jax laugh at something and the way he patted Jamie on the back before walking away striked me as something a brother would do to his brother.

As I watched the three of them interact I felt eyes on me and turned to see Chibbs turn his head away quickly, trying not to be caught staring at me. I looked at him sadly before finally moving towards Jamie. Once he noticed me he wrapped me in a hug and asked, "How ya doin doll?" I smiled at his nickname and nodded my head that I was ok. Mom set a plate and gave me a stern look, knowing the first chance I got I would go to the garage and start working again. I looked over at Jamie and Jax after getting the look from her and saw them both wearing the same look. I huffed in defeat and quietly ate my breakfast, cleaning my plate before handing the plate back and making my way to the garage. Jamie stayed and they told him how I had been working day and night barely stopping to eat unless one of them forced her. Clay even went so far as to threaten to cut the power to her computer if she didn't stop and eat. Jamie made his way to the garage a little bit later, finding me hunched over my computer quickly looking at scans that had been running around the clock. Friday was keeping us up to date on everything she was finding. Yelena had told Jamie she was giving her another week before she finally just came out here and made me stop. They knew I would be obsessed and hyper fixated on finding the main location. They knew my frustration would be wild due to the dead ends we kept hitting. Jamie sat next to me and put an arm around me. "You can't do this to yourself doll," he said speaking to me gently. I kept my face stoic as I thought about what I wanted to say to justify my behavior. "I almost hurt my own family, Jamie because I'm a little jumpy, " I hesitated, collecting my thoughts and feelings. "We have to stop them, we can't let them do this to someone else," I said as I fought the tears that threatened to fall. Jamie held me tighter as I buried my head into his chest. "We will I promise," he said and you could hear in his voice that he meant it and he did. He wouldn't allow what happened to us to happen to anyone else. He refused to allow them to take me back even if it meant he would be captured instead. He wouldn't allow me to go through it all again and he intended on taking anyone down who was a threat.
