THE TRUTH

We walk through the front door and find ourselves directly in the living room.

Everything is dark and there is still furniture everywhere, except that someone has covered the furniture with white sheets so that you can only make out the shape of the objects underneath.

"So, the furniture is from the previous owner. He moved back to Germany about 49 years ago and didn't want to take any of the things with him. Might have something to do with the fact that his wife went missing and was never found. Guess the stuff just reminded him of her too much. But he kept the house all the same. He was clearly unable to let go of it entirely. But then, eight years ago, the owner was admitted to an old people's home and was no longer able to pay for this house, so the state has now decided to sell it without reserve," he explains.

"Somebody went missing here?" Layla looks shocked.

"Does explain the creepy atmosphere in here," Andy whispers to her, but I hear him too, as I am standing right next to Layla.

"Yes, a man in his twenties lived here with his wife. He was known as Detective M.C. Krause, a German fellow, who moved here and opened up his own private detective agency. He was much talked about here, solved many unknown mysteries. And his wife, her name was Jane Krause, came from Llandrindod Wells, as I recall, and ran a little flower shop just down by the bay," Declan explains. "But anyway, enough of that. Shall we continue with the tour of the house?"

I nod and we walk on. Declan shows us every room in the house until there is only the garden left.

We head out into the garden and what I see there leaves me rooted to the spot. The view over Aberystwyth and the bay is simply breathtaking. This will definitely give me lots of ideas for some new paintings.

"Wow," I say out loud. "It's beautiful and just perfect."

"You are really thinking of buying it at the auction?" Layla looks shocked.

"Yeah," I say smiling at her excitedly.

"I will see you at the auction then?" Declan asks, as he walks out of the door.

"Yeah, we will be there," I reply.

Then the three of us head back to our flat.

"We will come with you to the auction, if you want," Layla offers on the way home.

"I would love that," I smile warmly at her.
