AN ESCAPE IDEA

A while has gone by now and we have gone through a whole bunch of boxes with no luck at all. All the boxes contain old things, like books, pictures, or vintage decorations that someone had on display a long time ago, judging by the pile of dust that has gathered around and on top of the items in the boxes.

I feel a little guilty about going through boxes that do not belong to me, but the thought of being stuck in here forever if we do not find something to bring this wall down persuades me to put my guilt aside, so I keep on searching.

Cedric lifts up a box at the other end of the room and something comes rushing at me from underneath it. I scream and push myself behind Jay, clinging to him like a small child afraid to let go of its parent when learning to swim.

"Wow, calm down, Riley. It's just a little mouse. You afraid of a little innocent mouse?" Cedrick mocks.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought it was a rat," I reply in a sharp tone, still clinging to Jay's left arm.

"It's okay, Riley. I will protect you, I promise," he whispers so only I can hear, smiling as he turns to me.

'He is so sweet. Why is he so sweet and his brother such a dick?' I think, staring into Jay's beautiful eyes.

But the moment is over as quickly as it started when Cedric orders us to stop flirting and get back to digging. I quickly let go of Jay's arm and we continue to look through the pile of boxes.

Just as I am about to give up hope of getting out of here alive, I open the next box beside me and find it filled with working tools like a hammer and a screwdriver.

"I think I may have just found something that can help us," I look up, smiling.

Cedric and Jay come up beside me and peer into the open box next to me.

"Perfect! We can use the hammer to smash holes in the wall until it crumbles and the hole is big enough for us to crawl through and get out of this filthy basement," Cedric takes the hammer and goes to the wall.

Jay decides to have another look inside the box to see, if there is anything else in there.
